Wait times for some EVs still long in Canada. Why it’s the opposite in the U.S.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 after waiting a year and a half.“We took it for a nice road trip and it performed immaculate,” Sandelands told Global’s Consumer Matters. While industry analysts say certain car brands like Tesla and Polestar are available with little to no wait times, other EV models require some patience.“EV wait times in Eastern Canada and in B.C., which are the provinces where demand is the highest, are still long. People are telling us they are waiting six months to a year, in some cases a year and a half, before their vehicle comes in,” said Georgy Iny, director of the non-profit Automobile Protection Association.“Hyundai EVs are tough to get, Kia EVs are hard to get.

Gas price for Reliance to be reduced by 14 per cent from next month
Reliance Industries is likely to be cut by about 14 per cent from next month in line with softening energy prices, sources said. For the six-month period starting October 1, the price of gas from deepsea and high-pressure, high-temperature (HPTP) areas is likely to be cut to around $10.4 per million British thermal unit from the current $12.12, they said. The government bi-annually fixes prices of the locally-produced natural gas — which is converted into CNG for use in automobiles, piped to household kitchens for cooking and used to generate electricity and make fertilisers. Two different formulas govern rates paid for gas produced from legacy or old fields of national oil companies like Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Oil India Ltd (OIL), and for newer fields lying in difficult-to-tap areas, such as deepsea. Rates are fixed on April 1 and October 1 each year.

YouTube cuts off Russell Brand's ad revenues after sexual assault allegations
YouTube said on Tuesday it had blocked Russell Brand from making money from his online channel after the British actor and comedian was accused of a string of sexual assaults. Brand, once one of Britain's most high-profile comedians and broadcasters, said on Saturday he had never had non-consensual sex. That came as the Sunday Times newspaper and Channel 4 TV's documentary show «Dispatches» reported that four women had accused the 48-year-old of sexual assaults, including a rape, between 2006 and 2013. London police said on Monday that since then they had received an allegation of sexual assault dating from 2003. Brand, the former husband of U.S. singer Katy Perry, has repositioned himself in recent years to build a more than 6 million-strong following to his YouTube channel. Recent videos included an interview with the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and discussions on everything from COVID to UFOs, censorship and wellbeing. YouTube, owned by Google parent Alphabet Inc, said it had suspended monetisation on Brand's channel after he violated its creator responsibility policy. «If a creator's off-platform behaviour harms our users, employees or ecosystem, we take action to protect the community,» a YouTube spokesperson said. Brand issued a video message on social media on Saturday to deny the «very serious criminal allegations» hours before they were published. «These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies.

Analysts raise Tata Steel targets after UK deal
Analysts at most brokerages have raised their price targets on Tata Steel shares in reaction to the company's joint investment plan with the UK government to build the country's largest steelworks in Wales. The move, which is estimated to reduce the steel maker's losses from Europe, has removed an overhang for the stock, said analysts. «We believe the recent developments related to Tata Steel UK will serve as a favourable catalyst for the stock price as it eliminates a key overhang for Tata to provide cash support from India operations to TSUK (Tata Steel UK) in the long term,» said Ravi Sodah, analyst at Elara Capital. Tata Steel shares, which gained 12% in the last month, ended 1.5% lower at ₹130.4 on Monday. While Tata Steel and the UK will invest £1.25 billion — including a government grant of £500 million — to build an Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) steel plant at Port Talbot — a town in Wales, the existing facility, which is nearing the end of its operational life, will be restructured.
