US allies allege China is developing attack drones for Russia
Iranian model deployed in Ukraine, European officials familiar with the matter said, a sign that Beijing may be edging closer to providing the sort of lethal aid that western officials have warned against. The companies held talks in 2023 about collaborating to replicate Iran’s Shahed drone, and started developing and testing a version this year in preparation for shipment to Russia, said the officials, who asked not to be identified to discuss private information. The Chinese drones have yet to be used in Ukraine, they said. Providing Russia a Shahed-like attack drone would mark a deepening of Beijing’s support for Russia despite repeated warnings from the US and its allies. President Xi Jinping has sought to portray China as neutral in the conflict in Ukraine even as western officials say it’s provided components and other support for President Vladimir Putin’s forces.

Frankenstein in real life? Chinese scientists create robot with human brain cells
Tianjin University in China has been developing a new form of robot that has been embedded with human brain cells, which makes it work and operate like a human. In order to obtain a brain-like result outside the human body, which could then be used to embed into this robot structure, a stem cultivation methodology was adapted to create the brain-inside-chip form and embed it into the robotic system.

Tesla deliveries set to fall for second straight quarter
June-quarter deliveries likely fell 6%, the first time the top EV maker is set to post two straight quarters of decline, as it deals with stiff competition in China and slow demand due to a lack of affordable new models. The company is expected to deliver 438,019 vehicles for the April to June period, according to an average estimate based on forecasts from 12 analysts polled by LSEG, seven of whom slashed their expectations in the past three months. The EV maker is expected to announce the results on Tuesday. Tesla has hit a speed bump after years of rapid growth that helped make it the world's most valuable automaker. It warned in January that deliveries growth in 2024 would be «notably lower» as a boost from months-long price cuts wanes.

China makes mock dill of destroying US F-35 and F-22 fighter jets. Is PLA preparing for war with US? Details here
People's Liberation Army exploding and destroying US fighter jets worth £78,000 each when the two countries are not at war? Not exactly. There is no US-China war and the Chinese Army has not bombed the US Air Force. What they have done is taking mock drills of exploding jet fighters as a part of their training exercise. According to 'Express', Airbus and Google Earth have captured the images showing destroying US F-35 and F-22 fighter jets in a remote desert area in northwest China. The satellite pictures suggest that the Chinese military destroyed these dummy aircraft with a nearby runway displaying scorch marks and bomb blast craters.

Tesla’s loss, not India: Ola's Bhavesh Aggarwal reacts to India-Elon Musk deal not moving forward
Tesla not moving forward on deal with the government, Ola CEO Bhavesh Aggrawal claimed that this loss would be for Elon Musk-owned company, not for India. «If true, this is Tesla’s loss, not India’s. While the Indian EV and Lithium ecosystem is early, we’re gaining momentum quickly. It’ll be too late for Tesla when they look at India seriously again in a few years,» said the Ola CEO in a post on X. The government has not heard from Tesla since the election results, on its plans to participate in the recently launched Scheme to Promote the Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India, said Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.

China's central bank refrains from gold purchases for a 2nd month
China's central bank refrained from gold purchases to its reserves for a second consecutive month in June, official data showed on Sunday. The pause by the People's Bank of China (PBOC) started in May, when spot gold prices hit a record high. The previous 18 months of consistent buying by the PBOC, along with demand from other central banks, contributed to the gold rally from March to May. China held 72.80 million troy ounces of gold at the end of June, unchanged from the end of May, the data showed. The value of China's gold reserves fell to $169.70 billion from $170.96 billion.

Mundra Ahoy! Adani sets sail for shipbuilding
Gautam Adani is looking to start building ships at the group's flagship port at Mundra, also the country's largest, as yards in top nations such as China, South Korea and Japan are booked out until at least 2028, forcing global fleet owners to look at alternate manufacturing sites including India for new vessels. This fits in with India's ambitious bid to become a top 10 shipbuilder as per the Maritime India Vision 2030 and move into the top five by 2047 as detailed in the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision. India is currently ranked 20th in the world commercial shipbuilding market with a marginal share of 0.05%. Indian-owned and flagged ships account for about 5% of the total overseas cargo-carrying requirements of the country. Adani's previously unreported shipbuilding scheme is tucked away in the ₹45,000 crore expansion plan for Mundra Port that received environmental and coastal regulation zone clearance recently, according to the minutes of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) attached to the ministry of environment, forest and climate change, which approved the proposal May 15.

Volvo to launch only EVs in India, plans one new car every year
Volvo Cars will launch only electric cars in India going forward and not sell petrol and diesel-powered vehicles in the market “beyond the 2030 deadline”, a top executive said. “The new products that we will bring to the market will be electric,” Martin Persson, head of Volvo Cars for the Asia Pacific (except China) region, told ET. “We still have the ICE (internal combustion engine) products and we think they are competitive for customers who want that. It is not about taking that away. But, at the same time, the future is pretty clear.” Globally, Volvo Cars plans to go all electric by the end of the decade.

Germany stops planned sale of Volkswagen's gas turbine business to China
Volkswagen unit MAN Energy Solutions' gas turbine business to a Chinese company on Wednesday, with ministers citing security reasons. The decision comes amid rising trade tensions between the EU and China. Germany's economy ministry can review and stop transactions deemed to have national security implications, and Berlin and the EU are trying to reduce risks from economic ties with Beijing. The planned sale of the German business to Chinese state-owned CSIC Longjiang GH Gas Turbine Co (GHGT) was announced in June 2023 at an undisclosed price, but MAN Energy Solutions said in September the government would take a close look.
