Delhi High Court has asked NBCC to refund over 76 lakh along with interest to a homebuyer after it failed to deliver possession of his flat, bought it 2012, and also awarded compensation of Rs 5 lakh for causing «extreme mental agony». Justice Subramonium Prasad, while allowing the homebuyer's petition against NBCC, observed that purchasing a house is one of the most significant investments an individual or a family makes in their lifetime, and it often involves years of savings, meticulous planning and emotional investment, and therefore compensating wronged homebuyers is not just a matter of rectifying past injustices but also about deterring future misconduct. The petitioner, a retired government employee, said he purchased the flat in 'NBCC Green View Apartments', a project launched in 2012 for Gurugram, but in spite of paying the entire sale price of over Rs 76 lakh in 2017, the unit was never handed over to him. In the order passed on May 8, the court observed that the petitioner has been deprived of his money for the last 10 years and «structurally defective houses» have been constructed, leaving him in a complete lurch, and NBCC should be «dealt with severely» for reluctance to pay interest on the amount and ensuring the petitioner's rehabilitation.

Delhi State Legal Services Authority in coordination with Delhi Traffic Police is organising a National Lok Adalat on May 11, 2024, to settle a large number of pending claims. In this type of special court (Adalat), you can present pending payment of Delhi Traffic Police challans/notices and either get it settled at a lower amount or dismiss it. As per a social media post by Delhi Traffic Police, National Lok Adalat will take up cases including the settlement of compoundable traffic challans (applicable for commercial vehicles as well) that have been pending on the Delhi Traffic Police portal till January 31, 2024. According to IPS Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, special commissioner of police Zone 2, Delhi Traffic Police, «The initiative of Lok Adalat has proven instrumental in providing a more accessible avenue for individuals to address their pending traffic challans and associated legal matters. By offering a streamlined and informal process, it not only eases the burden on the traditional legal system but also expedites the resolution process for those involved in traffic violations.»

Air India Express on Wednesday cancelled more than 80 flights after nearly 100 cabin crew members reported sick, protesting human resource practices of the airline. CEO Aloke Singh said in a message to employees that he is open to discussion with the cabin crew and that the airline will curtail flights for the next few days to mitigate the disruption. The airline operates around 360 flights per day. The civil aviation ministry sought a report from the airline, while Delhi's regional labour commissioner Ashok Perumalla pushed the company to settle the issues raised by the protesting staff.
