Uber and Lyft say they won't leave Minnesota after all — and drivers are getting a raise
passed a measure that will increase driver pay, but at a lower rate than approved by Minneapolis officials earlier this year. Although the new pay minimums are less than the rate approved by the Minneapolis City Council in March, they are intended to ensure drivers across the state are paid at least the city’s minimum wage equivalent of $15.57 an hour, though they also might mean increased costs for passengers. Minnesota lawmakers approved the pay plan Sunday night, on the last day of the legislative session and sent the measure to Gov.

Fed officials mull whether rates high enough as inflation expectations jump
interest rates are high enough deepened among Federal Reserve officials this week, and may be stoked further after a key survey showed a jump in consumers' inflation expectations. «There are… important upside risks to inflation that are on my mind, and I think there's also uncertainties about how restrictive policy is and whether it's sufficiently restrictive» to return inflation to the U.S. central bank's 2% target, Dallas Fed President Lorie Logan said at a Louisiana Bankers Association conference in New Orleans.

Why higher Fed rates are not totally off the table
Federal Reserve to raise interest rates again, and officials have made it clear that they see further increases as unlikely. But one important takeaway from recent Fed commentary is that unlikely and inconceivable are not the same thing. After the central bank held rates steady at 5.3% last week, Fed Chair Jerome Powell delivered a news conference where what he didn't say mattered.

Midcaps up M&A game with winds of tech spends revival
acquisition activities, with several small and midsize firms announcing deals in the past four months in segments ranging from consulting and startups to engineering services, data and analytics. Most of them are making acquisitions to strengthen their capabilities so that they do not miss out when the demand for technology spending, especially in discretionary projects, returns, say analysts. Big IT firms such as Infosys, HCLTech, Wipro and Cognizant too have announced M&A deals in recent months, but the numbers were fewer compared with their smaller rivals.
