We have support of 225 MLAs: Ajit Pawar on demand to dismiss government
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday took a swipe at the opposition over its demand to dismiss the Eknath Shinde-led government over the law and order situation, stating that it has the backing of 225 MLAs in the 288-member assembly. Speaking at an event here where Congress leader Baba Siddique joined the Nationalist Congress Party led by him, Pawar said no such demand was made after the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, when a Congress-led coalition was in power in Maharashtra. «Opposition today demanded dismissal of the government. Our Mahayuti (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance) has the support of 225 MLAs. Attempts are being made by some people to create an atmosphere of fear that there is breakdown of law and order in the state....when the 26/11 terrorist attacks took place, no such demand was made,» Pawar said.

MPs term 17th Lok Sabha as 'historic'; Article 370, triple talaq, Ram temple highlights
Lok Sabha on Saturday hailed the tenure as «historic» and recalled Article 370, triple talaq, Ram temple and the new Parliament building as the highlights. Poonam Mahajan, Mumbai North Central MP, said, «I feel blessed to be an MP in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's era. We can see things happening the way it was never before. The impact on social reforms, economic reforms and reforms with which we can take the farmers, youth and women forward. As many as 25 crore people have come above poverty line, which is the biggest achievement.» Asked what was the highlight when it comes to legislative business, she said, «Article 370 was abrogated. It was connected more with our hearts. Kashmir has suffered many years of bad politics of Congress. Triple talaq bill was about equality for women, that is what we are looking for.» «The past five years have been very good. Of course, travel was disrupted in between during COVID but still we managed and the session went on. It was very very successful. I was part of two Lok Sabhas — 16th and 17th. I met so many people and intellectuals… became friends beyond party lines and got to learn a lot. I liked being here,» Mathura MP Hema Malini said.

Why is the business of resort homes flourishing?
The concept of a ‘holiday’ in India is undergoing an alteration and has come to a stage of maturity. This has come about due to a number of factors which include a stressful work life and therefore a need for regular short breaks, rising income levels and higher aspirations for a better lifestyle etc. The holiday bug has caught the fancy of Indians in a big way, but with a difference. If we took a peek into the past, a few years ago investing in a holiday home was the privilege enjoyed by a few HNIs or NRIs. Since then, there has been a perceptible shift, post Covid 19, where we are seeing younger generation of Indians looking at purchasing property in holiday destinations across the country.
