NEW DELHI : Average fees charged by resolution professionals (RPs) and other consultants involved in insolvency and bankruptcy have declined by as much 70% during the past two years due to competition among professionals and tightening of rules by regulators, market participants said. Back in 2017, when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) published the ‘dirty dozen’ list of 12 large accounts against which the newly introduced Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) would be used, the consultants were charging as much as ₹1-2 crore for each case.

According to people familiar with the development, the commerce department made a detailed presentation on the pending issues in the run-up to the finalisation of the trade pact, which is expected to be inked later this month in the presence of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. “Trade negotiations with the UK are happening at a fast pace. A committee of secretaries was briefed about the pact,” said an official. Senior officials from the departments of agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food processing, finance and heavy industries took part in the meeting, a key step in the run up to inking of the trade pact. Last week, senior commerce and industry ministry officials made a presentation to the Prime Minister's Office on the agreement and the two sides are engaged in hectic negotiations. It will be New Delhi’s first such comprehensive deal with an industrialised nation that seeks to spur bilateral annual business beyond the current $20 billion. The pact will have 26 chapters.

While bellwether large-caps, as well as mid-cap firms such as Larsen & Toubro Technology Services (LTTS), Persistent Systems and Zensar Technologies, largely offered bleak September quarter figures and cautious commentary for the rest of this fiscal, both Coforge and Cyient group outperformed peers in maintaining operating margin and profitability—despite macroeconomic headwinds. Cyient reported September quarter revenue of $214.9 million for the entire group—up 4.6% sequentially and 22.3% year-on-year (YoY) in constant currency.

COST UPS Digital reports UltraTech Q2 net up 69% at ₹1,280 crore
NEW DELHI : UltraTech Cement, the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, reported a ₹1,280.38 crore profit during the second quarter of the current fiscal, an increase of 69% over the same period last year. UltraTech also reported a 15.24% year on year (YoY) increase in its consolidated net sales to ₹16,179 crore in the July-September quarter from ₹14,039 crore in the same quarter last year, it said in an exchange filing. Consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (Ebitda) for the company stood at ₹2,718 crore during the quarter, a 35% increase over last year.

NEW DELHI : Low-cost airline IndiGo has almost doubled its share of India’s international flights in the first quarter of FY24 from the corresponding pre-pandemic period, expanding its lead in this lucrative segment. Between April and June, IndiGo, the largest domestic airline, has achieved a 17.2% market share, among both Indian and foreign airlines operating on international routes, up significantly from 9.6% in the June quarter of 2019, according to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In comparison, foreign aviation giant Emirates’ share of total international passengers dropped from 9.7% to 8.6% during the period under consideration.
