Max Verstappen 'frustrated' as Red Bull decides to sack Liam Lawson after two F1 races
Liam Lawson's first Formula One season with Red Bull is coming to an end on a disappointing note after just two races. New Zealand’s Lawson is facing the axe after a disappointing show in the 2025 season opening Australian Formula One at Melbourne and the Chinese GP in Shanghai. The decision by Red Bull management to replace Lawson with Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda has not gone down well in New Zealand as well as the current F1 world champion Max Verstappen. The latter is also the Red Bull flagbearer and Lawson's teammate on the F1 Grand Prix circuit. Verstappen is reported to be frustrated by Red Bull deciding to sack Lawson after only two races. He stated that Racing Bulls, the feeder of Red Bull where Lawson used to race before his elevation, cars are easier to drive. “That Racing Bulls car is easier to drive than ours. I notice that when I talk to Liam. Last year the difference between him and Yuki wasn't that big, I thought. Otherwise the team wouldn't have made the choice to put Liam in at Red Bull,” said the F1 world champion. New Zealand Minister for Sport Mark Mitchell jumped into the controversy backing Lawson. “I'm disappointed if he isn't racing in the Red Bull, but I'm really excited that if he's at least back in the Racing Bull, that he can go and show everyone what he's capable of," he told New Zealand media.

India imposes provisional anti-dumping duty on import of Chinese aluminium foil
anti-dumping duty from $619 to $873 per metric tonne (MT) on aluminium foil imports from China. A gazette notification dated March 17 said the duty will be applicable on aluminium foil up to 80 micron, excluding aluminium foil below 5.5 micron for non-capacitor application. These developments come in the backdrop of United States (US) levying reciprocal tariffs. In addition to these, the US implemented a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminium imports last week. Domestic steel and aluminium producers fear that more Chinese products will make their way to India, putting pressure on margins. India’s provisional anti-dumping duty imposed under this notification shall be effective for six months and shall be payable in Indian currency, the notification said. This duty follows preliminary findings of Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) which concluded that the domestic industry has suffered material injury on account of the goods being exported to India from China. The order lists multiple China headquartered companies that were exporting to India at a price below the normal value, resulting in dumping. Those mentioned include Henan Mingtai technology development Co. Ltd., Henan Mingsheng New Material Technology Co. Ltd., Sunho New Materials Technology Co. Ltd., Shanghai Sunho Aluminium Foil Co. Ltd., Jiangsu Dingsheng New Materials Joint-Stock Co. Ltd., Inner Mongolia Lian Shen New Energy Co. Ltd., and Hangzhou Five Star Aluminium Co. Ltd.

‘Two-front war no longer a possibility—It’s a reality’: Army chief Upendra Dwivedi fires warning shot
Global South is being hindered by China’s growing economic and strategic clout, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said on Sunday. Delivering the fourth General Bipin Rawat Memorial Lecture in Delhi, he highlighted the increasing complexity China’s rise brings to global geopolitics. “The rise of China as a dominant economic and strategic force adds complexity, creates competition, and hampers India's effort to be the natural leader for the Global South,” General Dwivedi stated. He urged India to look towards Africa as a future power centre, recognising its potential role in the shifting global order. Despite its demographic and geographic advantages, India remains at a relatively lower global standing, he observed. “With the democratic shift and resource control race, we need to look at possibilities of Africa as a future power centre… India’s position will remain pivotal due to its geography, demography, democracy, prosperity, soft power, and inclusive approach,” he said.

Regulators will «hit early, hit hard, and hit at the heart» of the issue, the Securities Times said. Artificial intelligence has become a new tool for creating and spreading misleading information to con investors or manipulate stocks, luring investors with the prospect of getting rich quickly, the Shanghai Securities News said in a separate article.

Woman in China spends a fortune to 'get back' her dead pet dog. How much did it cost her?
pet cloning after spending 160,000 yuan (approximately US$22,000 or over Rs 19 lakh) to clone her deceased Doberman. According to The Star magazine, while pet cloning is legal in China, it must be carried out by certified companies following strict ethical guidelines. The woman, identified by her surname Xu, resides in Hangzhou, eastern China. She recounted her experience to the mainland media outlet Personage, revealing that she first adopted her Doberman, named Joker, in 2011. Over the years, Joker became more than just a pet—he was a steadfast companion, offering Xu an invaluable sense of security, particularly during the years she lived alone. Joker’s health began to deteriorate as he aged. At nine years old, he was diagnosed with a malignant sarcoma in his neck. Given the risks associated with anesthesia, he underwent surgery without sedation, exhibiting remarkable composure and trust. Tesla is flailing in China and the rapid rise of BYD is to blame
Tesla Inc., the company that comes to mind when most people think about electric vehicles, may have had its best days in China, the world’s biggest and most advanced EV market. Elon Musk’s automaker has been backsliding in China for the past five consecutive months on a year-on-year basis, according to data from the country’s Passenger Car Association. Tesla’s shipments plunged 49% in February from a year earlier to just 30,688 vehicles, the lowest monthly figure since way back in July 2022, when it shipped just 28,217 EVs — and that was in the middle of Covid.
