OLED screens will have notable implications for its current suppliers. Notably, Japanese firms Sharp Corp and Japan Display, who have been key providers of LCD screens for Apple's devices, are expected to be phased out of the company's supply chain for its handsets.

Sharp is reportedly planning to invest $3-5 billion to set up a display fab semiconductor factory in India. The display fabs are used for making televisions and other digital screens. According to a report in the Times of India, top officials from Sharp met communications minister Ashwini Vaishnaw this week in this regard. Notably, Sharp is planning to set up a 1,000-acres facility in India which will be even bigger than its factory back home in Japan. Sharp want to use the Indian factory to cater to both domestic demand but exports.

NEW DELHI : Developed countries can no longer afford to be cautious in providing financing for achieving sustainable development goals, the UN’s resident coordinator in India Shombi Sharp said in an interview. Sharp said the world faces a $4 trillion financing gap for the SDGs and called for greater political will to provide this funding. Sharp said India was uniquely placed between developed and developing countries, which allowed it to deliver a consensus at the G20.
