Global AI guidelines 'normative', unclear about implementation, say researchers
global guidelines around the use of AI, researchers found that while most of the guidelines valued privacy, transparency, and accountability, very few valued truthfulness, intellectual property, or children's rights. Further, most of these guidelines described ethical principles and values without proposing practical methods for implementing them and without pushing for legally binding regulation, a team of researchers from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, found. To determine if a global consensus existed regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the researchers identified and analysed 200 documents related to AI ethics and governance published between 2014 and 2022 from 37 countries and six continents and written or translated into five different languages — English, Portuguese, French, German and Spanish.

Open Banking: How does this concept of finance work?
Open Banking can be traced all the way to 1980, when the Deutsche Bundespost (German Federal Post Office), ran an experiment using five external computers and inviting 2000 people to make banking transactions from their homes via their TVs using specific transfer codes. That was a paradigm shift! More than four decades later, the trend towards opening continues strongly. Today, open banking is an umbrella term that refers to legislation and technologies that allow bank customers to consent to third-party providers (TPPs) accessing their payment account information or making payments on their behalf.

China targets Buddhists in inner Mongolia now
Mongolia and Mongolia (a neighbouring but a sovereign state) to launch a Sinicization programme, people tracking the development said. The Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region (IMAR) is the new target of the CCP's Sinicization programme, through the launch of 'Inculcating Chinese Nationality Common Identity' among 6 million local ethnic population, these people said. Chinese authorities recently banned a Mongolian theatre release, 'Mongol Khan', just 30 minutes prior to its official opening at Honhot's Ulaan Theatre IMAR. Chinese authorities in Inner Mongolia have also reduced the number of weekly Mongolian language classes in schools, according to Radio Free Asia. The Southern Mongolia Human Rights and Information Center, based in New York, reported that Chinese authorities were enforcing a complete ban on the use of the Mongolian language in all schools throughout Inner Mongolia. Xi Haiming, an ethnic Mongolian activist based in Germany, recently stated that authorities were employing other methods to compel ethnic Mongolian children to abandon their native language in favour of Chinese, often by exerting pressure on parents at their workplaces. Xi alleged that the parents who send their children to schools that teach Mongolian may face job loss, creating significant pressure on families.

RBI's Shaktikanta Das says US should rethink currency manipulator list
currency manipulators should be reviewed, said India’s central bank governor, who defended the need to buttress their economies from market swings. “There has to be a two-sided appreciation of the challenges” emerging markets face dealing with spillover effects of advanced economy policies, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das said Thursday at the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Marrakech, Morocco. India was most recently on the US Treasury’s watchlist as a potential currency manipulator in late 2020 and was removed two years later. In its June update, Treasury didn’t label any major trading partner as a manipulator, however seven economies remained on its monitoring list including China, Germany and Switzerland. India’s central bank has been one of the most active dollar buyers in the market in recent years as it seeks to build reserves to fend off any speculative attack on the currency.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal vs Slovakia Euro 2024 Qualifiers live streaming: When and where to watch
Portugal will take on Slovakia in Euro 2024 Qualifiers on Friday. While Ronaldo has set his eyes in the FIFA World Cup 2026, Euro 2024 will tell whether the former Manchester United and Real Madrid legend will add to more glory to his illustrious footballing career. Portugal will play Slovakia on Friday, October 13. The kick off is scheduled at 2.45 pm (ET). Portugal vs Slovakia Euro 2024 Qualifier will be live streamed on fuboTV for soccer fans in the US. A win against Slovakia on Friday will guarantee qualification and, if Ronaldo is selected, the chance for him to repeat his 2016 triumph with Portugal at the tournament. It wasn't clear what the future held for the five-time Champions League winner when he walked away from Manchester United last November and was then dropped by his country as it made an early exit from the World Cup in Qatar last year. His move to Saudi Arabia wasn't exactly a guarantee of success, but Ronaldo has proven he is far from done. On Friday, Portugal can secure its place at next year's European Championship in Germany. It will be a personal triumph for Ronaldo, who insisted his career wasn't over after leaving European club soccer behind to join Al-Nassr last December. Not only has he been the catalyst for a slew of soccer's biggest names, such as Neymar and Karim Benzema, following him to the Saudi league, but he has helped Portugal to its best-ever performance in a European qualifying campaign with six wins from six matches in Group J.
