Expensive city in US: California has 8 cities in top ten. Details here
San Diego has been identified as the costliest city in the United States, with Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Miami following closely behind. Santa Barbara secured the fifth position, according to a recent survey. The list of the most expensive places to reside, as per findings in US News and World Report, features three of the top five cities located in Southern California, according to a report. In total, eight cities in California found their way into the top 10, with San Francisco, Salinas, Santa Rosa, Vallejo, and Fairfield all included. The survey's rankings are determined by assessing the «median gross rent and annual housing costs for mortgage-paying homeowners» in each metropolitan area, the Deadline report stated. Meanwhile, a key indicator of US inflation stayed steady in September, the government reported Friday, as policymakers push on in their battle against persistent price increases. The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index, which is the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge, rose 3.4 percent from a year ago — the same rate as in the preceding two months — said the Commerce Department. The data comes days before Federal Reserve policymakers gather for a two-day meeting to mull whether to raise interest rates again to combat stubborn inflation. While consumer inflation has cooled, the latest figures remain well above officials' two percent target and could prompt further action. Fed policymakers are due to announce their rate decision next Wednesday, with analysts generally expecting them to hold off further increases for now as the effects of earlier rate hikes ripple through the economy.

Twitter takeover: 1 year later, X struggles with misinformation, advertising and usage decline
Elon Musk walked into Twitter's San Francisco headquarters with a white bathroom sink and a grin, fired its CEO and other top executives and began transforming the social media platform into what is now known as X. X looks and feels something like Twitter, but the more time you spend on it the clearer it becomes that it's merely an approximation. Musk has dismantled core features of what made Twitter, Twitter — its name and blue bird logo, its verification system, its Trust and Safety advisory group. Not to mention content moderation and hate speech enforcement.

Orlando Brown injury update: Will Cincinnati Bengals left tackle play against San Francisco 49ers?
Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown recently suffered a groin injury, which caused him to exit the team's Week Six game against the Seahawks. However, Brown is now confident in his recovery and anticipates being fit to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week Eight. His optimism is supported by the fact that he participated in full practice on Friday, and he has received a clean bill of health for Sunday's game. Orlando Brown has been a starter in all six of the Bengals' games this season. As for the Bengals' overall injury status, there are no significant concerns leading up to the upcoming game. Nevertheless, the team did announce on Friday that two players, linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) and running back Chase Brown (hamstring), will be unavailable for the game. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers showed they could win lopsided games when they raced out to a 5-0 start and were barely challenged in the second half in any of those games. Pulling it out down the stretch in a tight game has been a different issue. A few key mistakes have doomed San Francisco in tight losses the past two weeks against Cleveland and Minnesota. The Niners (5-2) will look to find that formula for winning even when everything isn't going as planned when they host the Cincinnati Bengals (3-3) on Sunday.
