Tornadoes kill 4 in Oklahoma; governor issues state of emergency for 12 counties amid power outages
Tornadoes that tore through Oklahoma have flattened buildings across one rural town, killing at least four people, causing widespread power outages and leaving a trail of destruction, Gov. Kevin Stitt said Sunday. Nearly 30,000 people remained without power after tornadoes began late Saturday night. The damage was extensive in Sulphur, a town of about 5,000 people, where some downtown buildings were reduced to rubble and roofs were sheared off houses across a 15-block radius. «You just can't believe the destruction,» Stitt said. «It seems like every business downtown has been destroyed.»

Who is going to win the presidential election? Want to bet?
If you’re among the millions of Americans following the presidential race, then perhaps you can turn your political obsession into a tidy profit by betting on this year’s outcome—or hedge your potential disappointment and bet against your favored candidate. PredictIt.org, a political-futures website that allows participants to wager on political outcomes, on April 1 showed President Biden as a slight favorite over former President Donald Trump in the general election—at 48 cents to 47 cents a share, respectively. Those prices reflect a race that is within the margin of error of many polls.

Where does best innovation happen? Not in stand-alone labs, some companies say
Some companies are moving away from the idea that stand-alone, startup-style labs are the best way to drive innovation. The re-evaluation comes as big businesses feel the pressure to harness cutting-edge generative artificial intelligence for new discoveries. The best ideas come from within the business, these companies say, rather than from colleagues in detached groups who then have to get buy-in from the company.
