Thailand leading discussion on Schengen-style visa with Southeast Asian neighbours to lure moneyed tourists
Thailand’s status as a tourism hotspot into an aviation and logistics hub — has discussed the Schengen-type visa idea with his counterparts in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam in recent months. The facility is meant to ensure seamless mobility for travellers among the six neighbouring countries. With most leaders positively responding to the single-visa concept, tourism-reliant Thailand aims to generate more revenue per traveller and cushion its economy from headwinds such as sluggish exports and weak global demand that’s hurt its manufacturing industry.

The picture in Congress manifesto is Rahul Gandhi's favourite destination, Thailand and Buffalo River in New York: BJP
Congress manifesto, raising questions about the seriousness and authenticity of the document. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi highlighted the incongruity, stating, «Recently the social media chairperson said she was not aware who was handling her social media account. India's rice rates grind to 2-month low on soft demand
India slipped to their lowest level since early February this week, pressured by sluggish demand, while Thai rates declined for the fourth consecutive week due to a weaker baht. Top exporter India's 5% broken parboiled variety was quoted at $540-$548 per ton this week, down from last week's $550-$558. Prices hit a record high of $560 last month after customs officials changed the calculation method for the 20% export duty, resulting in a higher levy. Demand from Asian buyers was subdued, which brought down prices from the last month's highs, said Himanshu Agarwal, executive director at Satyam Balajee, a leading exporter.

3 great Himalayan summer getaways
The Gokyo Lakes Trek, Khumbu Valley, Nepal: Compared to the hardships of trekking in most areas of the Himalaya, a trek in the Everest region can be an epicurean delight. As one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world (as well as one of the oldest in the Himalaya), the Khumbu Valley of the Sherpa people in Nepal attracts Himalaya fans from the world over. As a result, trekking in the region means staying at lovely teahouses every night and eating the kind of food that would put most dal-chawal-Maggi trekking menus to shame (think pizza, or roast chicken, or Thai food, even beer!).
