OTTAWA (Reuters) — The potential threat posed by the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) means safeguards need to be built in to systems from the start rather than tacked on later, a top U.S. official said on Monday.

TAKING STOCK OF CLIMATE PROGRESS The main task at COP28 is a first-time assessment of countries' progress towards meeting the 2015 Paris Agreement's goal of limiting the global temperature rise to «well below» 2 degrees Celsius, while aiming for 1.5C.
