Adani Group could find funding harder after US indictment as banks review credit
Some global banks are considering temporarily halting fresh credit to the Adani Group after the U.S. indictment but maintaining existing loans, sources told Reuters. Ratings agency S&P warned in a statement that the group will need regular access to equity and debt markets given its large growth plans, but it might find fewer takers.

Adani's green plans may face a funding squeeze
Adani Group's ambitious plan to invest more than $100 billion (~₹85,000 crore) in the energy transition business and scale up its renewable energy operations over the next decade could face delays following the indictment of the conglomerate and its founder-chairman Gautam Adani by the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to analysts. The majority of the investment is geared towards building facilities to manufacture electrolysers for producing green hydrogen, wind power turbines, and solar panels, besides establishing solar parks. Adani Group's renewable energy arm Adani Green Energy (AGEL), also India's largest renewable energy company, follows a debt-fuelled growth model with a 70:30 debt-equity structure like most peers.

US trade body to investigate alleged Adani solar IPR violations
Adani Solar USA and Adani Green Energy Ltd India based on a complaint filed by a Chinese firm about alleged violations of its patents on solar cells, modules, panels, components and products made from such components. The United States International Trade Commission (USITC), earlier this month, said that an «investigation be instituted to determine whether there is a violation… of section 337 in the importation into the US, the sale for importation, or the sale within the US after importation of certain products identified… in infringement of one or more… patent and claims». The complaint, filed by Chinese photovoltaics company Trina Solar in September, claimed that an industry in the US exists or is in the process of being established. Besides the Adani companies, various firms of Chinese solar module maker Runergy will be investigated for the alleged infringement of intellectual property rights.

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy's big plan for Trump 2.0: Massive firing of federal employees; here's how they are planning to do
Vivek Ramaswamy have been appointed by US President- elect Donald Trump to lead the newly announced Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), aimed at significantly reducing the federal workforce and eliminating numerous regulations. USA Today reported that in a recent op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, they eventually argued that the anticipated reduction in regulations would necessitate fewer federal employees, suggesting large-scale firings and relocations of agencies outside Washington DC. According to USA Today, the duo contends that Donald Trump has the executive authority to nullify many regulations without congressional approval while citing the recent Supreme Court rulings that support their claims. They plan to work with appointees within federal agencies to identify the minimum staffing required for essential functions. Although DOGE is eventually described as a department but it operates more like an advisory commission without formal authority, asserted USA Today.

Robust capex leads to surge in Adani Group's gross assets
Adani Group's gross assets swelled by ₹75,277 crore in the first half of this fiscal year as the diversified conglomerate accelerated capital spending across projects, said people close to the matter. Gross assets are on track to reach a record ₹1.2 lakh crore by March-end, the people said. The surge in assets sparked a 7% or ₹16,882 crore increase in gross debt in the fiscal first half to ₹2,58,276 crore. The group's liquidity to service debt has fallen to 28 months as of September-end, from more than 30 months at the end of March. The Ahmedabad-based conglomerate has been battling turmoil over the past two days with promoter Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, along with six others indicted by the US Department of Justice. The charges include securities and wire fraud, alleging the group lied to US investors about its anti-bribery practices while engaging in widespread corruption.

Cash strapped UK had to pay $1 million of taxpayers' money to secure Taylor Swift's Eras Tour
Taylor Swift's Eras Tour security cost UK taxpayers $1 million. It's going to be a lot of dollar signs and reports about Taylor Swift's UK leg of her Eras tour, so buckle up for this one. After a terrorist plot was thwarted, Swift was forced to postpone three concerts in Vienna, Austria, as many fans are aware. She has increased security since then, which makes sense, but it seems that all of the extra protection has come at a high cost, as quoted in a report by SheKnows. The Metropolitan Police now have to pay almost $1 million in taxpayer funds for the additional security. The US Sun claims that providing security for each of Swift's UK performances cost the Met about $880,000. Swift's group also asked for $200,000 worth of security measures, such as a blue-light escort.

Say it with pride: 'Burned in the USA!'
Bribery being what it is in our collective consciousness — a nudge-nudge wink-wink lubricant — the American accusation against one of India's biggest corporate names has provided, along with the standard 'Oh dear' response, the quieter, 'Heh heh, finally, we've made it to the big league!' reaction. The mega-charge joins the more obviously proud ranks of Indian movies like RRR getting Oscar applause and people of our 'mulk' gaining positions of corporate and political power in foreign countries (read: the US).

Had Donald Trump lost the U.S elections, Republicans would whole sole blame this person; who is that person calling the shots now?
US President- elect Donald Trump's victory in the US Presidential Election 2024, Elon Musk's significant financial backing through his Super PAC, America PAC has eventually come under scrutiny. According to Rolling Stone, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reportedly spent around $200 million to support Donald Trump's campaign while focusing on low-propensity and first-time voters. Rolling Stone reported that this funding was facilitated by a Federal Election Commission ruling that allowed super PACs to coordinate with campaigns while enabling Donald Trump’s team to leverage Elon Musk's resources pretty effectively. Elon Musk's recent alignment with Donald Trump suggests a deepening bond that could reshape political dynamics moving forward. Competition regulator unlikely to take cognizance of media reports on Adani bribery issue
Competition Commission of India (CCI) Chairperson Ravneet Kaur on Friday hinted that the fair trade regulator is not likely to take cognizance of media reports on the bribery charge against the Adani group to initiate a probe, claiming that the panel takes steps only after some information is filed before it. Billionaire Gautam Adani has been charged by US prosecutors for allegedly being part of a scheme to pay over USD 250 million (about Rs 2,100 crore) bribe to Indian officials in exchange for favourable terms for solar power contracts. Adani group on Thursday denied the charges of paying bribes to secure favourable terms for solar power contracts, saying the allegations by US prosecutors are baseless and the conglomerate is compliant with all laws. On whether the Adani matter falls under the purview of CCI, Kaur said, «The CCI is governed by the Competition Act… It is meant to promote and sustain competition. If there is any matter which falls in that domain of the Competition Act, then it comes to Competition Commission.»
