Road ahead may be stormy, President Xi warns people as China celebrates 75th National Day
Xi Jinping issuing a stern warning that the road ahead for the Communist nation won't be smooth as it is weighed down by economic headwinds coupled with intensifying rivalry with the US and growing tensions with neighbours, including India. A large number of people attended the ceremonial flag hoisting at the sprawling Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Tuesday to celebrate the National Day as the country shut down for a week-long holiday. Other than this, there were no festivities nor grand military parades displaying China's military might like in the 60th and 70th anniversaries of the National Day, but a rallying call from Xi asking people to prepare for hard times. «The road ahead won't be smooth and flat, there will be difficulties and obstacles. [We] might face high winds and rough seas, even stormy seas,» Xi said at a banquet on the eve of the anniversary as China tries to regain economic momentum amid an increasingly challenging set of geopolitical headwinds.

Sikh leader seeks 'free investment zone' for Punjab; military academy in Anandpur Sahib
Punjab a free investment zone and demanded a military academy in Anandpur Sahib to propel the Indian state on the path of development. «Punjab is a very important part of India. If Punjab prospers, India will prosper, and vice versa. Unfortunately, Punjab went through a difficult period in the 80s and 90s due to militancy and extremism. It suffered a lot, including the loss of a generation of Sikhs. Even today, Punjab is bearing the consequences of the events in 1984. Its progress was halted, with little investment happening in the region,» said Jasdip Singh Jasse, chairman of Sikhs of America. «We would like to request Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) to make Punjab an enterprise zone, make it a free investment zone, give incentives to businesses, and set up a military academy in Anandpur Saheb,» Jasse told PTI. In the absence of opportunities, youths of Punjab are spending large amounts of money to illegally travel to the US and Canada. «Youths of Punjab be given business opportunities in Punjab itself,» he said.

Scientists found a massive underground ocean hidden 700km below Earth's surface. Here's all about it
Instead of liquid water, this underground ocean consists of water trapped in the crystalline structure of a blue mineral called ringwoodite. The research team, led by geophysicist Steven Jacobsen, used seismic data from thousands of earthquakes to uncover this hidden reservoir. The defining feature of this underground ocean is its crystallized water form, which is locked within the molecular structure of ringwoodite. This unique form of water storage challenges previous theories about Earth's water reservoirs.

China's Communist Party has ruled for 75 years. Will it make it to 100?
Soviet Union, the Communist Party of China retains a firm grip on power. The powerful and feared organization has ruled the nation — home to close to one-fifth of the world's population — for 75 years, surpassing the 74-year Soviet era in Russia. The party survived years of self-inflicted tumult after it took control in 1949. A major course correction in 1978 transformed the country into an industrial giant with an economy second in size only to the United States.
