Nearly 20% of respondents claim to simply dislike Harris. Supporters of Harris are somewhat more divided: 42% of them support her because they appreciate her record and policies, 24% because they think she is a good person, and 33% because they detest Trump. The latest survey is the result of several incidents that might have given Harris more backing. August saw the Democratic National Convention. Kennedy's name was taken off of several ballots around the nation when Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the presidential contest and announced his support for Donald Trump. Politicians like former Representative Liz Cheney and Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter, as well as celebrities like Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, have endorsed Harris. There seems to have been another attempt on Trump's life. Based on Fox polls, the largest shifts are coming from independent and Hispanic voters. Independent voters preferred Trump by eight points in August. Harris is currently in the lead by 12 points.
