JSW MG Motor India on Monday said it has formed a strategic partnership with HSBC India, which will provide access to comprehensive and tailor-made financing solutions at competitive terms to the car maker's dealer partners. Leveraging HSBC India's expertise will provide easy access to working capital for the company's dealer network, JSW MG Motor India said. With varied and customised financing options on offer, the partnership with HSBC India will enhance operational efficiency, promote business sustainability, and foster long-term growth opportunities for the dealer partners, the company said.

JSW MG Motor India on Friday reported a 31 per cent year-on-year rise in wholesales at 7,045 units in October 2024. New energy vehicles (NEVs) remain a significant part of its overall sales, contributing over 70 per cent to the total volume in October, JSW MG Motor India said in a statement.

JSW MG Motor India on Tuesday reported an 8 per cent year-on-year decline in retail sales at 4,588 units in September. The automaker had sold 5,003 units in the same month last year. The new energy vehicles (NEVs) continue to contribute significantly to the total sales of the company, accounting for 49 per cent of the sales last month, JSW MG Motor India said in a statement. The company said it will be moving to the Vaahan Portal from October 2024.

MG Motor India on Thursday said it has signed an initial pact to deliver 3,000 EVs to integrated fleet electrification platform Vertelo in a phased manner. Both the entities have signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect. The partnership will focus on providing sustainable mobility solutions to riders and will also work towards establishing a robust EV charging infrastructure in the country, MG Motor India said in a statement.

India’s fledgling electric vehicle market on expectations that a government push towards ecofriendly mobility and greater consumer awareness will further accelerate sales. Domestic electric passenger vehicle sales have picked up pace, with the number of mass-market models growing threefold to a dozen by seven companies in 2023, from just four models by three manufacturers prior to the pandemic, according to data collated by automotive market research firm Jato Dynamics. Female workers are making deeper inroads on shopfloors and in functions traditionally dominated by men at automakers, amid adoption of advanced technologies in manufacturing processes which require precision handling. Tata Motors has more than 6,500 female shopfloor technicians at its manufacturing facilities that roll out electric cars, SUVs and heavy commercial vehicles. At the country’s largest two-wheeler maker, Hero MotoCorp, 3,500 women work on the shopfloors and there are assembly lines led by women at its factories at Tirupati, Haridwar and Neemrana in Rajasthan, while at MG Motor India, women account for 34% of its 3,001 workers at the manufacturing unit in Halol, Gujarat.

MG Motor India plans to overhaul its dealership network by closing underperforming ones and opening new dealers in newer locations ahead of a potential alliance between its Chinese parent and a private company owned by JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal, people aware of the development told ET. The maker of Hector and Astor SUVs also assured its dealers on the sustenance of its Indian operations and brand MG post the deal, the automaker informed the dealer partners last week. The company also touched upon plans to launch new models and variants and expand the overall capacity in its communication to the dealers.

MG Motor India, which faced disruptions in production through most of the past one year, said with an expected improvement in the supply chain in the second half of 2023, it will be able to clock a quarter of its sales from electric vehicles (EVs) this year. While limitations continue in availability of components amid global challenges, from the Russia-Ukraine war to logistical delays in intercontinental movement, supplies have started showing an improvement, said Gaurav Gupta, deputy managing director, MG Motor India. “We have started ramping up operations with easing of constraints in the supply chain.

MG Motor India on Saturday reported 14 per cent increase in retail sales at 5,125 units in June 2023 as compared to the same month last year. The company had posted a retail sales of 4,504 units in June 2022, MG Motor India said in a statement.

MG Motor said it will provide five different experience centres as part of the initiative.
