Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday released the first list of 52 candidates for the Telangana Assembly elections, set to be held on November 30. Members of Parliament Soyam Bapu Rao, Arvind Dharmapuri and Bandi Sanjay Kumar have been fielded from Boath, Koratla and Karimnagar, respectively, while MLA T Raja Singh is set to contest from Goshamahal. Of the 52 candidates, 12 are women, while 14 candidates are from Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe backgrounds. KT Rama Rao on Thursday opened a new state-of-the-art office of the US-based financial services giant Goldman Sachs in Hyderabad. Godrej Agrovet Limited's oil palm business vertical has announced that the company will set up an integrated palm oil complex in Telangana. To be set up in the Khammam district, it will consist of a crude palm oil mill along with the provision of setting up a refinery in the near future. The company has an expertise of more than three decades in the oil palm business. The company will also establish a nursery with a capacity of up to 7 lac saplings per year in addition to the seed production and research unit, Godrej Agrovet said in a release on Saturday. «Telangana's ambitious oil palm mission aims to bring 20 lakh acres under cultivation across the state.

Godrej Agrovet Ltd (GAVL) on Saturday said it will set up an integrated palm oil complex in Telangana with an investment of Rs 300 crore over the next 3-4 years. The palm oil complex, to be set up in the Khammam district of Telangana, is spread over 125 acres and will consist of a crude palm oil mill along with the provision of setting up a refinery in the near future, GAVL said in a statement.

Tabreed will invest $200 million to develop 1,25,000 refrigeration tons (RT) of cooling infrastructure for the Hyderabad Pharma City, the company said today. Tabreed (National Central Cooling Company) entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Telangana government on Tuesday to facilitate the establishment of the facility. The project is being taken up on a public-private partnership basis and seeks to provide sustainable long-term cooling services through the cooling-as-a-service model for process cooling and storage requirements of industrial units. “Through this MoU, we aim to showcase the benefits of district cooling to drive sustainable infrastructure development in the region and contribute to Telangana's vision of becoming a model for eco-friendly urbanization.”,” Sudheer Perla, Country Head, Tabreed India, said. The Government of Telangana also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tabreed to explore district cooling infrastructure in existing and upcoming commercial districts of Cyberabad and other mixed-use development areas which offer the potential to reduce over 200 MW of peak electricity demand resulting in CO2 reduction of 18 million tons over a 30-year period while mitigating heat island effect that will further bolster Hyderabad’s position as one of the best cities to live and work in Asia. BRS Working President K T Rama Rao on Thursday said the party should sweep not just the coming Assembly polls in Telangana but also the Lok Sabha seats in the state, for the party to emerge as a strong force at the national level. Telangana Cabinet on Monday decided to expand the metro rail network in Hyderabad with about Rs 60,000 crore in the next three-four years and, among other decisions, to provide ex-gratia to the kin of 40 people who died during the recent heavy rains in the state. In another key decision, the cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, decided to recognise the over-43,000 employees of the state-run Road Transport Corporation (RTC) as government staff. Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, State Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao said it has been decided to expand metro rail on a large scale to strengthen public transport in Hyderabad.
