Here's why EC asked AAP to change it poll campaign song
Election Commission of India (ECI) has instructed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to revise its election campaign song to comply with Advertising Codes. This directive comes in response to the ECI's objection to the phrase «jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge» and a visual depicting a mob holding a photo of Arvind Kejriwal behind bars, which the ECI believes casts aspersions on the Judiciary. In a statement, the ECI clarified its stance, saying, «The phrase 'jail ke jawaab me hum vote denge' showing an aggressive mob holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind bars, casts aspersions on the Judiciary.» The ECI further noted that the repeated use of this phrase in the advertisement violates the provisions of ECI Guidelines and Rule 6(1)(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994. However, the AAP has defended its campaign song, arguing that it does not target the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and does not contravene the Model Code of Conduct. Atishi, a senior AAP leader, highlighted during a press conference that the song includes factual videos and incidents.

equity indices experienced a decline on Friday, primarily due to weakness in the financial sector. However, these losses did not overshadow the weekly gains, which were fueled by a post-results rally in key index constituents and reduced concerns regarding the Middle East. The NSE Nifty 50 was down 0.67% to 22,420, on the day, while the S&P BSE Sensex shed 0.82% to 73,730. Both the indexes snapped a five-day winning streak. Why Nifty Bank has underperformed Nifty50 in the past one year
Nifty Bank index has given only 12.41% returns compared to 25.89% returns by the Nifty 50 index. Beneath this underperformance lies a story. Let us explore it in detail: Investors preferred public sector banks (BPSUs) to private sector banks. BPSUs largely finance institutional and corporate borrowers and private sector banks are known for catering retail credit needs. Despite strong credit offtake, stocks of private sector banks did not do well. There is a reason. Private sector banks were richly valued compared to BPSUs. In a high interest rate regime, value conscious investors preferred to stick to BPSU. The PSU rally also improved the sentiment around PSU bank stocks. However, these stocks have a relatively low weight (around 15%) in the Nifty Bank index. Hence the positive impact on Nifty Bank Index was not as much.

US courts may take note of India’s stance on TikTok: FCC chief Brendan Carr
India’s swift and preemptive action against TikTok could be a feature that plays out in American courts as the ByteDance-owned firm is likely to challenge the US move to ban its video-hosting service, Federal Communications Commission (FCC) commissioner Brendan Carr told ET in an exclusive interaction. Carr’s comments come close on the heels of a stringent directive issued to the popular app by US President Joe Biden on Wednesday. He signed a bill that requires TikTok’s Chinese parent ByteDance to divest ownership of the app or face the ban in the next nine to 12 months. ByteDance said it is not considering selling the app with TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew asserting that the facts and the US Constitution were on the company’s side. TikTok’s official account on microblogging platform X has been stating that a potential ban on its app in the US would “trample the free speech” of 170 million Americans.

How can BJP pretend to eradicate corruption when its 'washing machine' in full spin, alleges Congress
Congress on Saturday accused the BJP of accommodating corrupt leaders and taking no action in cases against them once they join the ruling party. The allegations came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigned in Maharashtra and ahead of his rally in Goa. It also raised the plight of onion farmers and giving clearance to projects to select corporate groups, asking if the prime minister is working for the people or his «crony businessmen friends». In a post on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the BJP's deluxe brand washing machine has been reserved for Goa.

FMCG companies: Buyers aware, sellers beware
FMCG companies navigate the inflation challenge, innovate to stay ahead of the competition and adopt an omni-channel approach to reach more buyers, they have a looming risk which they need to address. Increasingly, FMCG products are coming under buyer and regulatory scrutiny. Recently, Nestle India's shares plummeted by up to 5.4%, reaching a day’s low of Rs 2,409.55 on the BSE. This significant drop followed the revelation that the multinational FMCG giant adds sugar to baby food products sold in India, a practice not followed in Europe and the UK. This is the second time in the last nine years that Nestle India has come under the spotlight for quality issues. In 2015, its instant noodles brand Maggi was under the scanner after excess lead and MSG were found in some samples collected from Uttar Pradesh. While stock meltdown and regulatory action are short-term risks, losing consumer trust is a long-term and bigger risk for an FMCG company. Laterly, a number of cases have come up where individuals and governments have brought FMCG products under the spotlight. What a spate of incidents tells
