Zee Entertainment Enterprises (Zee) said its chief executive officer Punit Goenka, who resigned as managing director (MD) last week, has withdrawn his consent for re-appointment as MD, initially proposed for approval at the annual general meeting on November 28. This follows the company's earlier announcement on November 18, where Goenka had announced his decision to step down as the MD. «I hereby tender my resignation from the office of MD of the company with immediate effect to entirely focus on my operational responsibilities,» Goenka stated in his letter to the board dated November 18.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) missed paying its second bank guarantee (BG) of about '350 crore to cover for spectrum bought in a 2012 auction and which was due November 1, said officials familiar with the matter. This follows India's third-largest telecom operator missing payment of more than '4,600 crore BG this September for a 2016 spectrum auction. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is, however, unlikely to invoke any penal action against the struggling telco till a decision is taken on a DoT proposal to waive BG for spectrum auctions. «The draft Cabinet note on the waiver has been prepared and circulated and it will be sent for approval soon,» an official told ET. A second official said the law ministry and the finance ministry are yet to reply on the note but still it might be sent to the Cabinet to take a final call on the matter.

The company will be paying a total rental of more than Rs 350 crore for the office spread over around 250,000 sq ft through the entire lease tenure. The Boston-based company has leased the office space spread across the ground plus six-storey tower, which is part of a 10-acre commercial complex Equinox Business Park, to set up its global capability center (GCC) serving clients globally.

Reserve Bank of India’s gold purchases has helped the central bank to hold up foreign exchange reserves amidst a huge pullout by foreign portfolio investors that saw reserves contracting by $47 billion in five weeks. While the value of foreign currency assets dipped $1.1 billion on an incremental basis since the beginning of the fiscal 2024-25 upto November 15, value of gold in reserves rose $13 billion in the same period and help shore up overall foreign exchange reserves by $11 billion, the latest Reserve Bank of India data shows. Reserves including gold, foreign currency assets and SDR are now at $ 658 billion. The central bank added 44.76 tonnes to its stock of gold between March 29 and October 25 this year, ramping up gold stocks from 822.09 tonnes to 866.65 tonnes during the period according to the latest Reserve Bank of India data.
