₹20 lakh for this purpose. Your adviser recommends you to invest approximately ₹10,000 per month in a few funds for 10 years which may help build this corpus, assuming a return of 10%. As humans, we might desire to reach that goal in five years by chasing investments which we assume can deliver higher returns.

Fitch warns may be forced to downgrade dozens of US banks, including JPMorgan, says CNBC
Fitch Ratings analyst Chris Wolfe warned that the US banking industry has inched closer to another turbulence — the risk of rating downgrades on dozens of US banks that could even include JPMorgan Chase, a report from CNBC said Tuesday. In June, the ratings agency lowered the score of the US banking industry's "operating environment" to AA- from AA, citing pressure on the country's credit rating, gaps in regulatory framework and uncertainty about the future trajectory of interest rate hikes.

Worst not over! Nifty around 19K would be a good point to relook again: Andrew Holland
Andrew Holland, CEO, Avendus Capital, says “I do not think we are out of the woods yet. I would not be surprised if the Nifty was to go downward to around 19,000, it would be a good point to relook again. But at the moment, even though we remain in this small trading range, the risks are more to the downside, particularly because of the banking index.”Many are questioning whether the market is getting overheated or not. Some of the froth has definitely come off from the top. But do you think there is still a meaningful correction in store or this is just a temporary blip that one has seen and maybe the worst of it got over last week? I am not sure that the worst of it is over yet but it is a temporary blip in terms of the market fall.

The boring path to exciting returns
How to get good returns from your investments without working too hard for them? Let me start with a question: why does anyone invest? You may say, to get good returns on the capital. Well, of course. So, how should one invest to get good returns? This question may attract a lot of varied responses: invest in stocks, trade derivatives, invest in the top-performing asset class at the moment, and so on and so forth. What if I told you that getting good returns has nothing to do with any of these? If you have started to roll your eyes in disbelief, this quote from Late Paul Samuleson, a Nobel Prize laureate and an American economist, may be an eye-opener: “Investing should be more like watching paint dry or watching grass grow.
