Leadership and Followership: Traits That Drive Excellence and Unity
Being a follower is simpler than being a leader because the former requires isolation and requires problem-solving prowess. Even though the leader's manner may not be appropriate in this scenario, the follower nonetheless completes the task because of the leader's position and influence. They comply with his orders and adopt his viewpoint. Effective leadership is when the leader's request satisfies the goals or objectives of the followers, resulting in willing cooperation. Effective leadership places a strong emphasis on position, authority, and close supervision. Taliban official says women lose value if their faces are visible to men in public
KABUL: Women lose value if men can see their uncovered faces in public, a spokesman for a key ministry of Afghanistan’s Taliban government said Thursday, adding that religious scholars in the country agree that a woman must keep her face covered when outside the home. The Taliban, who took over the country in August of 2021, has cited the failure of women to observe the proper way to wear the hijab, or Islamic headscarf, as a reason for barring them from most public spaces, including parks, jobs and university. Molvi Mohammad Sadiq Akif, the spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Vice and Virtue, said in an interview Thursday with The Associated Press that if women’s faces are visible in public there is a possibility of fitna, or falling into sin.

'Jewface' storm: Family of Leonard Bernstein defends Bradley Cooper for wear prosthetic nose in 'Maestro'
Leonard Bernstein has defended Bradley Cooper's controversial decision to wear a large prosthetic nose while playing the Jewish composer in a new film.Oscar nominee Cooper — who wrote, directed and stars in "Maestro" — has received criticism since a trailer for the upcoming Netflix film was released online this week. Critics said the decision to wear a fake nose plays up to Jewish stereotypes, and have dubbed it "Jewface," in reference to the historic «Blackface» practice of non-Black performers darkening their faces for roles. Others have questioned whether non-Jewish actors, like Cooper, should even play Jewish roles. But the late Bernstein's three children said they were «perfectly fine with» with Cooper's decision «to use makeup to amplify his resemblance» to their father. «It happens to be true that Leonard Bernstein had a nice, big nose,» wrote Jamie, Alexander and Nina Bernstein in a statement on social media. «We're also certain that our dad would have been fine with it as well,» they added. Bernstein, the son of Jewish-Ukrainian immigrants, died in 1990 but remains one of the best-known composers and conductors of all time. He served as music director of the New York Philharmonic, and wrote the Broadway musical «West Side Story.»

Basavraj Bommai accuses Congress regime of releasing water to Tamil Nadu, Dy CM DK Shivakumar hits back
Basavraj Bommai on Wednesday slammed the state Congress regime for releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu after the neighbouring state approached the Supreme Court over the Mekedatu dispute, calling it an “unforgivable offence” to deny water to one’s own state’s farmers for another state. Tamil Nadu, he said, had used twice as much water for the Kuruvai crop — a short-term, highly water-dependent crop that grows in the Cauvery Delta. “You [the state government] have created a situation where the share of water of our farmers is diverted to Tamil Nadu,” he said in a series of tweets on twitter.

Government clears Rs 20,000 cr deal to build five warships for Indian Navy
fleet support vessels (FSVs) which are urgently required by the Indian Navy. Vizag-based Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) will manufacture five of the 45,000-tonne warships, the largest ship of its class being built at the defence ministry-owned yard. The Indian FSV project was initially given a go-ahead in 2016 after the Indian Navy projected a requirement for ships that could carry fuel and other supplies for warships at sea. The ships are needed to support warships on long range patrol and can carry a variety of equipment, such as fuel, ammunition and food supplies. They will be able to support ships of all classes, including the two Indian aircraft carriers. The navy has a variety of new ships that are being planned, including next generation missile vessels and counter mine vessels. Three additional Scorpene class submarines are also expected to be ordered shortly.
