University admissions: CUET a fresh business opportunity for coaching companies
CUET). The test, started in 2022 and conducted by the National Testing Agency, is mandatory for about 3,00,000 seats in around 250 universities across India. These include the University of Delhi, more than 90 constituent colleges of which offered admissions to bachelor’s courses only through CUET in the 2023 session. Test prep company Vidya Mandir Classes is charging Rs 1.2 lakh fee for a two-year CUET classroom programme of 300 hours, while one-year classroom programme of 170 hours costs Rs 70,000.

NEW DELHI : India’s manufacturing activity in September grew at the slowest pace in five months after new factory orders softened from their high in August, a private survey said. The purchasing managers index (PMI) fell to 57.5 in September, compared with at 58.6 in August, 57.7 in July, 57.8 in June and 58.7 in May, according to S&P Global. A figure of 50 separates expansion from contraction.

NEW DELHI : The improvement in cement prices seen during September remains positive for the manufacturers amidst rising energy costs. The cement channel checks by brokerages indicate that improvement in cement prices continued in September led by major price hikes in East India. For September 2023 average prices are up 4% month-on-month and for second quarter (Q2FY24) are up 0.5-1.0% sequentially as per analysts at Jefferies India Private Ltd.

PTI. As per details, 14 states raised ₹22,500 crore through the issuance of state government securities. This was in line with the indicated amount for this weekly auction for the third quarter calendar. Chief economist at Icra Ratings, Aditi Nayar pointed out that the auctions saw a steep surge in the cut-offs across tenors leading to the weighted average cost jumping to a 23-week high of 7.56 percent.
