According to a report by IFC (International Finance Corporation), India's nearly 6 crore MSMEs contribute 31 per cent to the GDP, employ nearly 13 crore people, and make up 45 per cent of exports. Yet, despite being the backbone of the economy, they remain extremely credit-starved. The current addressable credit gap for MSME in India runs into a few lakh crore rupees.

Investment proposals of Rs 59,350 crore and Rs 18,090 crore were received from UK and Germany, respectively, in the education, health, skill development and technology sectors, Yadav told reporters here on his return from the tour. «During the UK visit, the focused areas of the delegation were minerals, semiconductor, health, automobile, EV, renewable energy, education and food processing. In Germany, we have specially focused on technology research, green energy and industrial development,» he said. In UK, the SRAM and MRAM group has given an investment proposal worth Rs 25,000 crore in semiconductors and science and technology Park, an official said. «Similarly, Helion Pharmaceuticals has given an investment proposal worth Rs 3,000 crore. After discussions with the company head, it was immediately decided to allocate land to the pharma major in Indore's Smart Industrial Park. Germany's Long House Partners has proposed investment of Rs 14,000 crore in the technology and innovation sector, while AMS OSRAM is keen to invest Rs 1500 crore in semiconductor/electronics sector,» the official said.

He announced that a Dharma Sansad will be held during the Maha Kumbh on January 26, the UP government said in a statement. «Prominent seers and sages from across the country, including Shankaracharyas from all four Peeths and heads of 13 Akharas, will gather at the Sangam. »The Sansad will propose the formation of a Sanatan Board which will be submitted to the central government for approval. Munni Saha was reportedly heckled by a mob, a video of which has gone viral on the Internet. She was later arrested in Dhaka’s Kawran Bazar area on Wednesday night after the confrontation with the mob. Police intervened after the crowd accused Saha of spreading misinformation and “working to make Bangladesh a part of India.” Saha maintained her innocence, stating, “This is also my country.” A video circulating online shows the tense encounter. The mob accused Saha of involvement in the 2009 Bangladesh Rifles mutiny and student deaths. “You are doing everything to make this country a part of India. The blood of students is on your hands,” one person shouted. Saha responded, “How have I harmed? This is also my country.”
