West Bengal: BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari urges women to blow conch shells if they see suspicious activities
Basirhat (WB): BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday urged women in troubled Sandeshkhali region, as well as other areas of Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency, to blow conch shells as a signal if they see any suspicious activities before the June 1 election. Speaking at a campaign rally in support of BJP candidate Rekha Patra, Adhikari voiced concerns about potential visits by «TMC-controlled state police» and others to intimidate residents into voting for the ruling party. He advised residents to blow conch shells if they observe unfamiliar people entering their neighborhoods late at night and cautioned against accepting money from organisations linked to the TMC. «If you (residents) see any suspicious movement at night, if you notice police personnel accompanied by strangers but not central force personnel entering your locality, blow conch shells if the situation warrants,» he said.

Election outcomes won't disrupt India's economic stability: Saurabh Mukherjea
«We have been through a variety of political dispensations in the last three decades and growth has been in the 6-7% area. India rarely grows much faster than 7% and rarely grows much slower than 6%,» says Saurabh Mukherjea, Marcellus Investment Managers. Tell us what exactly were the conversations like when you were sitting far away from India, but looking at India from the foreign lens, in conversation with some of your prospective clients? What were they asking you or probing you, what were they most curious about? Let me break it into three parts. Obviously, the first discussion tends to be, what will happen in the elections, what do you think? And my response is, I really do not know. You can read the newspapers as well as anybody else can, I tell my clients. And the simple point of view on that is, regardless of what happens in the election, it looks like there will be policy continuity.

Kolkata residents stare at difficult days as workforce leaves city to vote
Kolkata: No joy for residents of the City of Joy who seem to have been thrust into a whirlwind of anxiety and are bracing for a possible disruption in their daily lives starting this Friday. The source of their dread is the looming Lok Sabha polls on June 1 when the city and its suburbs vote and its aftermath till the results are announced on June 4. This critical period promises chaos, as a substantial portion of the workforce engaged in myriad professions across the metropolis prepares to abandon the city and return to their villages to exercise voting rights. Polling will take place in various constituencies in Kolkata and its adjacent districts of North, and South 24 Parganas in the final leg of the general elections.

Election Jitters! A 15-20% correction is okay, look beyond June 4: Experts
correction from current levels should not shake the confidence of investors and they should remain invested with a view beyond June 4, the day when the fate of the incumbent NDA government and the India alliance will be decided, experts opine. Post the event, the focus will get back to earnings, growth, and India's long-term economic potential, they argue. A day before the final phase of polling, chips were down on Thursday, with markets falling over 150 points to the day's low of 22,540.90. Over the last five sessions, Nifty has corrected by 427 points or nearly 2%.

Also Read- Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Defence, power, industrials among sectors to bet on ahead of election resultAnshuman Arzare MD CEO of Yes Securities said that before election results, investors should adopt a strategy of diversifying their portfolios across various sectors to mitigate risk. Focusing on defensive stocks, such as those in the FMCG (Fast moving Consumer Goods), healthcare, and utilities sectors, can provide stability and reduce volatility.Additionally, maintaining a portion of the portfolio in cash or liquid assets can enable investors to capitalize on market corrections, with buying during dips being a potentially fruitful strategy, suggests Arzare. After the election results, investors need to assess the new government's policies and their potential impact on different sectors as per Arzare.

INDIA bloc to pick PM within 48 hours, party with maximum seats 'natural claimant' to leadership: Jairam Ramesh
INDIA bloc will get a "decisive mandate" in the Lok Sabha polls and may take even less than 48 hours to decide on its prime ministerial pick, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said on Thursday, asserting that it stands to reason that the party which gets the maximum seats in the alliance will be a «natural claimant» for its leadership. In an interview with PTI on the last day of campaigning for the seven-phase Lok Sabha polls, the Congress general secretary exuded confidence that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) will get seats «well above» the 272-mark needed for a majority in the Lower House. Ramesh also said that when the INDIA 'janbandhan' parties will get the people's mandate, then some NDA parties may join the coalition and the Congress high command will have to decide whether to include them in the alliance or not. Asked whether post-polls doors will remain open for NDA allies such as JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, the Congress leader said, «Nitish Kumar is the master of 'palti (volte-face)'.

Ahead of June 4, be relatively light & in cash; curtail trading: Dipan Mehta
Dipan Mehta, Director, Elixir Equities, says he wants to go very light into the election season on any positions and any investments he is not completely confident about. Now that the earning season is over and done with, we have a far greater clarity on the prospects of all the companies, so from that point of view it is better to be cautious. If the results are good, then you will have the whole year to profit. But if it is bad, exit will be very difficult. What should be the strategy ahead of not just June 1st but the big one – June 4th? Dipan Mehta: Be as light as possible. Curtail all trading positions, options, futures, everything. Just enjoy the election result and watch all your news channels giving all their comments on what has gone right and what has gone wrong. It is best to be relatively light and in cash. The risk return does not really favour you. Even if it is a spectacularly good result, you will have opportunities to buy. But if it is a bad Lok Sabha result outcome, you would not get a chance to sell, that I am certain about.
