Maharashtra Assembly Polls: Narrow margins highlight close contests
Maharashtra assembly polls were won by a margin of 10,000 or less, with 33 seats having been won by 5,000 or less votes. The opposition tally could have been more disastrous as the numbers show. An analysis of the results show that the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme, the reverse caste polarisation due to the MVA overplaying the Maratha card and the work done by the Sangh led to increased voting for the Mahayuti. The BJP has 17 candidates who won by a margin of 10,000 votes and less. Of these, 10 won by a margin of 5,000 votes and less. In these seats, the BJP benefited due to the votes being divided between the opposition parties.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) missed paying its second bank guarantee (BG) of about '350 crore to cover for spectrum bought in a 2012 auction and which was due November 1, said officials familiar with the matter. A second official said the law ministry and the finance ministry are yet to reply on the note but still it might be sent to the Cabinet to take a final call on the matter.

Donald Trump's Project 2025: Is big change coming soon?
Donald Trump hailed what would become Project 2025 as a road map for «exactly what our movement will do» with another crack at the White House. As the blueprint for a hard-right turn in America became a liability during the 2024 campaign, Trump pulled an about-face. He denied knowing anything about the «ridiculous and abysmal» plans written in part by his first-term aides and allies, AP reported. Now, after being elected the 47th president on November 5, Trump is stocking his second administration with key players in the detailed effort he temporarily shunned. Most notably, Trump has tapped Russell Vought for an encore as director of the Office of Management and Budget; Tom Homan, his former immigration chief, as «border czar;» and immigration hardliner Stephen Miller as deputy chief of policy.

Maha Rashtriya Rajniti 2025: The morning of this latest round of polls will show the day of national politics to come for BJP
Although this may not be felt in Maharashtra until legislative business begins in earnest, the result's impact will be felt without delay in parliament as its winter session begins today. Undeniably, the political impact of the Maharashtra verdict will be felt nationally because it hugely bolsters confidence of NDA, especially confidence in Narendra Modi. Likewise, the combative character Congress displayed during the previous session will be difficult to harness after the party 'squandered' two opportunities that came knocking following the general elections. Unlike the Haryana elections, which the party practically 'lost' to BJP, in the case of Maharashtra, this was an election that Maha Yuti (MY) won by combing several strategies-significantly without Modi campaigning with the intensity associated with him.

Individuals among us carrying out anti-national religious conversions: Yogi Adityanath
Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said there are «individuals among us» who are secretly carrying out «anti-national» religious conversions and asked youngsters to be vigilant to put an end to it. Adityanath said this while addressing a special session on the closing day of the three-day 70th National Convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held at the Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University campus. Commending the efforts of Dipesh Nair, co-founder of NGO Teach and recipient of the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Award, the chief minister shared an incident related to «anti-national» religious conversions involving deaf-and-mute children. He recounted that in 2019, following the arrest of two men under false identities for plotting the killing of a seer at a temple, a thorough probe revealed their ties to a religious preacher associated with Batla House in Delhi.

Earth bids farewell to its temporary 'mini moon' that is possibly chunk of our actual moon
mini moon" for the past two months. The harmless space rock will peel away on Monday, overcome by the stronger tug of the sun's gravity. But it will zip closer for a quick visit in January. NASA will use a radar antenna to observe the 33-foot (10-metre) asteroid then. That should deepen scientists' understanding of the object known as 2024 PT5, quite possibly a boulder that was blasted off the moon by an impacting, crater-forming asteroid. While not technically a moon — NASA stresses it was never captured by Earth's gravity and fully in orbit — it's «an interesting object» worthy of study.

Universal Health Coverage: Community health workers ‘the missing link’ say experts
non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer's remain a growing challenge due to reliance on expensive, reactive care, healthcare experts suggest building a community healthcare system and ‘operating at scale’ in rural and urban areas to help India pave the way to Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Swami Subramaniam, Physician Scientist, and Aparajithan Srivathsan, hospital strategist, spoke to ET on the sidelines of a discussion of their new book in which the duo has proposed seven principles to make UHC a reality in the country. Underlining some of the challenges in the current system, the book highlighted that “Primary healthcare in its current form is in its death throes. For its revival, it should be transformed into a new version called Comprehensive Health Care.” To strengthen the community healthcare system, India needs to think beyond traditional methods and “apply industrial concepts,” Srivathsan said, while adding, “Currently, ASHA workers, though involved in project-based interventions, are not equipped for continuous monitoring, as non-communicable diseases require long-term, consistent care. Therefore, a dedicated cadre of trained health workers is essential, and NGOs are stepping in to fill this gap."

Addressing the media at Sannidhanam, Prasanth attributed the rise to «effective management and improved facilities for devotees.» To facilitate a smooth darshan experience, three spot online booking centers have been established at Vandiperiyar Sathram, Erumeli, and Pamba. Elaborate arrangements have been made at the Manappuram online booking center in Pamba to handle the growing influx of devotees, said Prasanth.
