A Komagata Maru apology, an NDP alliance: Why Justin Trudeau might not condemn Khalistan extremism
Justin Trudeau seeks to return to governance for a third straight term, his popularity seems to have taken a hit, giving way to Conservative Right wing opposition candidate Pierre Poilievre. PM Trudeau's handling of the killing of Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar seems to indicate a subtle dissociation from a right-wing leader in order to propel his static year-over-year at 31 per cent popularity as best choice for Prime Minister candidate. The need to move away, rather severe ties with right wing ideologies seems like an opportune moment for an unfazed PM Trudeau.

Superfood: Healthy, wealthy and wise
superfood — itself a marketing term for food claimed to confer health benefits resulting from an exceptional nutrient density — an amalgam of science and ideology. It is science because nutritional research establishes cause and effect, and continues to do so in greater detail. It is an ideology when fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds have to be carted halfway across the world to deliver a specific health benefit.

China, India lead Asia's biggest hydropower crunch in decades
Hydropower generation in Asia has plunged at the fastest rate in decades amid sharp declines in China and India, data shows, forcing power regulators battling volatile electricity demand and erratic weather to rely more on fossil fuels. The two countries, which account for about 3/4 of Asia's power generation and most of its emissions, are also to a lesser extent using renewables to make up for the hydropower shortfall and address rising electricity use. Major Asian economies have faced power shortages in recent years due to extreme weather conditions, including intense heat and lower rainfall over large swathes of northern China and Vietnam, as well as in India's east and the north. Higher use of polluting fuels such as coal to meet electricity demand spikes and supply shortages underscore the challenges of lowering emissions.

NBC announces 'America's Got Talent' spinoff 'Fantasy League'. See why is it special
NBC is set to introduce a new spinoff of its popular show 'America's Got Talent' called AGT: Fantasy League in 2024. The judging panel will feature Mel B, Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, with Terry Crews taking on the hosting duties. This spinoff follows the network's previous successful launches of 'America's Got Talent: All-Stars,' 'AGT: Extreme,' and 'America's Got Talent: The Champions.' It's being introduced after the premiere of Season 18 of 'America's Got Talent,' which began in May and concludes this month, featuring Cowell, Klum, Mandel, and Sofia Vergara as judges, with Crews as the host. In AGT: Fantasy League, the format mimics fantasy sports drafts. Each judge will create a roster of their preferred acts, selecting from winners, finalists, viral sensations, and fan favorites from both 'America's Got Talent' and the global 'Got Talent' franchises. These acts will be pre-selected by the viewers in an initial vote. This spinoff marks a historic moment in the show's history, as the judges themselves will compete alongside the contestants. They will take on the role of mentors and guides for the acts throughout the competition. Their ultimate goal is to earn bragging rights and witness an act from their team being crowned the champion of AGT: Fantasy League. After the AGT finale on September 27, viewers will have the opportunity to suggest contestants via the AGT app. AGT: Fantasy League is a collaborative effort between Fremantle and Syco Entertainment, with executive producers including Simon Cowell, Sam Donnelly, and Jason Raff. This new spinoff promises to bring a fresh and competitive twist to the beloved 'America's Got Talent' franchise.

Canada says will adjust staff presence in India amid threats
«With some diplomats having received threats on various social media platforms, Global Affairs Canada is assessing its staff complement in India,» the Canadian High Commission said. «As a result, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to temporarily adjust staff presence in India. All of our locations are staffed by diplomats and locally-engaged staff to ensure business and operational continuity,» the statement read. Citing the Vienna Convention, the High Commission further called on India to «provide for the security of our accredited diplomats and consular officers in India, just as we are for theirs here.» The Canadian mission, however, could not substantiate the threats. The India-Canada diplomatic relationship has nosedived ever since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the floor of Parliament alleged the involvement of the Indian government in the killing of Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.

‘India hopeful about climate financing at UN conference’
NEW DELHI : India is optimistic that the UN conference on climate change slated to be held in Dubai later this year will bring greater clarity on the “financial pathways" needed in the fight against climate change, according to environment, forest and climate change secretary Leena Nandan. In doing so, it is likely to build upon the declaration adopted at the recent G20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi, she said in an interview ahead of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP) of the UN Climate Change Conference, to be held from 30 November-12 December. Edited excerpts: What are the key takeaways of your ministry from G20? The environment and climate sustainability working group has taken on very topical issues which are extremely relevant to the interconnected theme of climate and environment.
