Mirwaiz Umar Farooq expresses concern over Rajasthan court notice on Ajmer shrine
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday expressed concern over the Rajasthan court’s notice on a suit on the famous Sufi shrine of saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer terming it as “disturbing” and a “serious” issue for Muslims across the subcontinent. He was referring to a plea filed in September at the local court in Ajmer, seeking directions to start worship at the Ajmer Shrine, which the plea claimed was a Shiva temple. On November 27, the court issued notices to the dargah committee, the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Archaeological Survey of India concerning the shrine, which is visited by devotees across the religious and political spectrum. Mirwaiz, while addressing the Friday congregation at the historic Jama Masjid in downtown Srinagar, said the Rajasthan court order right after the killing of five Muslim youth in Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh in discriminatory police action.

See 1st photos of Notre Dame Cathedral’s restoration, 5 years after blaze
Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, damaging large portions of the 860-year-old Gothic-style building, the world is getting a look at the painstaking restoration efforts to bring the church back to life.French President Emmanuel Macron toured the UNESCO World Heritage Site Friday, trailed by a pool of photographers and journalists, taking in the meticulous, €700 million (more than C$1 billion) restoration. And what a difference – “This is overwhelming,” he said as he viewed the glistening, cleaned white stones, Reuters reported.Macron thanked the nearly 400 firefighters who “saved this cathedral” on April 15, 2019 – the day the world watched in horror as a fire that started in the roof spread rapidly, sending flames and smoke high into the sky.“The blaze at Notre Dame was a national wound and you were the remedy, through your determination, hard work and commitment,” he said, speaking to the approximately 1,300 workers who gathered to welcome Macron and celebrate their achievements. The fire destroyed the church’s spire and roof and left heavy smoke and water damage to the main cathedral area of the building. After the fire was extinguished that day, Macron pledged to the public that “we will rebuild the cathedral to be even more beautiful, and I want it to be completed within five years.”On Friday, Marcon gazed up at rebuilt soaring ceilings and creamy good-as-new stonework.Gone are the gaping holes that the blaze scorched into the vaulted ceilings, leaving charred piles of debris. New stonework has been carefully pieced together to repair and fill the wounds that had left the cathedral’s insides exposed to the elements.

Shahid Afridi slams BCCI for mixing politics with cricket, backs Pakistan's stand against hybrid model
Shahid Afridi has extended his support to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not accepting the hybrid model for next year's Champions Trophy, scheduled to be played in Pakistan. The veteran all-rounder has blamed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for 'intertwining politics with sports' and called for ICC to 'uphold fairness and assert their authority'. The ICC Board meeting is set to take place on Friday to decide the schedule of the marquee tournament. The BCCI has told ICC that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the tournament due to the Indian government's disallowance. However, the PCB is reluctant to host the entire tournament in Pakistan, leaving the future of the Champions Trophy uncertain. Afridi added that Pakistan have travelled to India five times since the Mumbai terror attacks that deteriorated the relations of the neighbouring countries.

Heightened security measures around Sambhal's Shahi Jama Masjid ahead of Friday prayers
Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, ahead of the Friday prayers, following recent tensions in the area. The deployment of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and drones has been put in place to maintain law and order in the district. These precautionary measures come after a violent stone-pelting incident during the Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) examination of the Mughal-era mosque on November 24. The clashes led to the loss of five lives and several others being injured, including both local residents and ASI officials involved in the survey. In response to the violence, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has set up a three-member Judicial Inquiry Commission, headed by retired Justice Devendra Kumar Arora of the Allahabad High Court. The commission's purpose is to conduct a thorough and unbiased investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.

From first impressions to long-term growth: How design can play a big role in business success
marketing materials, design acts as a bridge between a business and its audience, shaping how messages are received and remembered. “Businesses that prioritize design not only captivate their target audience but also foster loyalty and long-term growth,” says design expert Pavan Java. Here are five reasons why design is indispensable for any business. 1. Creating a Strong First Impression Design often serves as a customer’s first interaction with a business, whether through a logo, website, or packaging. A well-crafted visual identity can build trust and confidence, encouraging further engagement. A strong first impression can determine whether a customer chooses to engage further or moves on to a competitor. Effective design ensures that a brand’s message is delivered clearly and memorably, setting the stage for a positive customer relationship. 2. Building and Reinforcing Brand Identity A cohesive and recognizable brand identity is essential for standing out in a crowded market. Consistent use of visual elements like colors, typography, and imagery helps businesses craft a unique personality that resonates with customers. Java said that “a distinct brand identity allows businesses to foster emotional connections with consumers.” A strong visual identity not only aids recall but also increases the likelihood of customers recommending the brand to others.
