Bengaluru blast: When a Bollywood actor was in Rameshwaram Cafe a week back
cafe in Bengaluru has hit the headlines for a rather unsavoury reason. Rameshwaram Cafe, one of the most celebrated eateries in Bengaluru, witnessed a devastating bomb blast on Friday. Although no casualties were reported, around 9 people were injured. Videos of the blast have gone viral on social media. Following the tragedy, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claimed that the blast was a planned incident. A CCTV footage showed an unidentified man placing an improvised explosive device at the eatery. The incident was earlier speculated to be an outcome of a cylinder blast. However, in an interaction with the media, Divya Raghavendra Rao, the Founder & Managing Director of the restaurant firmly dismissed the idea. “This is not a cylinder explosion. All our cylinders are safe inside the kitchen and no lapses have been identified. One customer and three of our staff have been injured and we are taking care of their expenses.” She added, “We have given access to all our CCTV cameras to the police. The bomb squad is also in the restaurant to identify the cause. We are cooperating with the law enforcement agencies,” he told the journalists.

Will not move from this site: Uttarakhand tunnel rescue hero after spending second night on footpath
Wakeel Hassan, a rat-hole miner who was part of the Silkyara tunnel rescue operation, sitting on a footpath where he and his family spent their second night after losing their house in a demolition drive. «My family and I continue to spend the night in the open. Some locals are providing us with food and water, etc.,» Hassan said on Friday, a day after he refused an offer by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to move him and his family to an EWS flat in Narela. «We have now accepted the night as a challenge,» he said, adding the family has not received any help from the government so far. Hassan was part of a team of miners who rescued 41 workers trapped inside Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel by manually drilling through the debris in November last year.

Revenge-spending Indians drank and dined after being cooped up in covid years
NEW DELHI : Indians spent liberally on dining at hotels and restaurants and on alcohol in 2022-23 while going easy on clothing, food and non-alcoholic beverages, clearly marking out their preferences emerging from two years of pandemic lockdowns. Growth in private final consumption expenditure on food and non-alcoholic beverages slowed to 6.2% in FY23 from 6.6% in the year before, show the government’s PFCE data released on Thursday. Private final consumption expenditure is defined as the expenditure incurred by households on final consumption of goods and services, and is reflective of the broader household demand in the country.
