Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Friday released a consultation paper seeking feedback on proposals, including alignment of provision regarding approval and authentication of financial results for entities having listed non-convertible securities with that for equity listed entities. Under the proposed norms, the quarterly financial results submitted shall be approved by the board of directors. Further, the financial results submitted to the stock exchange shall be signed by the chairperson or managing director, or a whole-time director. In the absence of all of them, it should be signed by any other director of the listed entity who is duly authorised by the board of directors to sign the financial results.

Since a very large part of the information we consume today is being created or processed by online creators, it's right in trying to plug the regulatory arbitrage between legacy and digital platforms. There should ideally be no difference in treatment of freedom of expression available offline and online, including attendant obligations. This would apply more critically to broadcast, especially when it can be done through social media by an individual. Persons broadcasting online for profit should be held to a higher threshold of accountability. This is where things get complicated. The nature of online communication can very well transform personal opinion into a broadcast. Using the profit motive as a differentiator would allow a section of broadcast content online the wider liberty of freedom of expression.

India «over the next several weeks.» The search giant launched AI Overviews in Search in May, starting with the US, to help people quickly discover information on the web. «After extensive testing and positive feedback, including in the US and Search Labs globally, we’re bringing the helpfulness of AI Overviews to six new countries: India, United Kingdom, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico and Brazil – along with local language support in each country,» Hema Budaraju, senior director, product management, Search said in a blog post. In India, Google said it will be rolling out AI Overviews in English and Hindi. It will also introduce popular India-first features that were well-received during the company's Search Labs experiment. This includes helping a user easily switch between English and Hindi results with the language toggle button, and listen to responses with Text-To-Speech by tapping the 'Listen' button.
