Independence Day 2024: India shines bright as iconic landmarks across cities are bathed in tricolor glory
Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai, Delhi Secretariat, Bhopal’s Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Center, Mumbai International Airport, Calcutta High Court and Raj Bhavan in Kolkata, and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation headquarters in Mumbai are among the prominent structures that now shimmer with national pride. In Hyderabad, the Golconda Fort, renowned for its architectural beauty, has been meticulously illuminated by Bajaj Electricals. The lighting not only enhances the fort's aesthetic appeal but also honors its historical importance. Several dynasties like the Kakatiyas, Bahmanis, Qutb Shahis, and Mughals have left their architectural imprints on the fort. The fort now stands out even more as a symbol of India's rich heritage and its journey to independence. In Mumbai, the historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus glows with vibrant colored lights. This iconic railway station, a UNESCO World Heritage site, stands as a symbol of the city’s pride and heritage. The introduction of tricolor illumination ahead of Independence Day amplifies its grandeur.

Poland tightens visa rules for international students to prevent abuse
Poland has tightened its visa rules for international students. This action comes after Poland's «student visa scandal» that broke out in May. Poland's Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, announced a significant change in the country's visa policy, declaring that student visas will no longer be issued to foreigners without high school diplomas. The decision aims to prevent misuse of student visas by individuals seeking to work in the European Union illegally. This move comes after a scandal exposed by the Polish daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna revealed that some foreign nationals were obtaining student visas despite not meeting university admission requirements in their home countries. These individuals often failed to attend the universities they were registered at, instead using their student visas to work within the Schengen Area.

RBI flags risks emerging from over-reliance on third party vendors
third party vendors by financial institutions. Speaking at a convention organised by the International Association of Deposit Insurers, RBI deputy Governor J Swaminathan called upon banks to exercise caution to guard them against potential vulnerabilities while working with third party vendors. He also called upon deposit insurers to tie insurance premiums to the level of risk posed by individual financial institutions. “The digital transformation in banking has also led to a multitude of distinct third-party entities getting involved in the provision of a single product or service, creating a complex web of technical and operational dependencies,” said J Swaminathan, DG, RBI. “The impact of failure in any link in this chain can often be catastrophic as was seen in a global IT services outage incident last month. Third parties could be points of intrusion for ransomware and other cyber threats.” Last month, C-edge Technologies a third party IT vendor jointly owned by Tata Consultancy Services and State Bank of India faced a
