HDFC Bank can rise up to 25% with attractive valuations
HDFC Bank's stellar first-quarter earnings — supported by healthy loan growth and margins, and strong asset quality — saw a number of brokerages reiterate their bullish recommendations on the stock that has the potential to deliver 25% returns given the attractive valuations. Shares of India's largest private lender closed at Rs 1,678 Tuesday, little changed over the previous day's closing. «We think the bank's current valuation of 2.9x FY24E BVPS (pure bank) does little justice to its compounding potential and low balance-sheet risk,» said BNP Paribas Securities in a note to clients.

Powerball jackpot soars to $1 billion after no winning ticket sold for $922 million prize; Know when is the next drawing and how to play
Powerball drawing did not produce any jackpot winners, leading to a further increase in the prize amount. The jackpot has now reached an estimated $1 billion, with a cash option of $516.8 million. The next drawing is scheduled for Wednesday. The estimated jackpot for Monday's Powerball drawing was $922 million, making it the third-largest Powerball jackpot and the seventh-largest in the history of U.S. lotteries. Now, after no winners bagged the Powerball jackpot prize on Monday, the jackpot for Wednesday night's Powerball drawing is set to become the third-largest in Powerball history and the seventh-highest in the history of U.S. lotteries. This remarkable jackpot prize of $1 billion follows the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won last year and the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2016. The Powerball jackpot has remained unclaimed since April, spanning across 38 drawings. Although the odds of winning are as low as 1 in 292,201,338, Monday night's drawing did produce over 2.8 million winning tickets. These ticket holders collectively received smaller cash prizes totaling $41.7 million, as reported by Powerball officials. Had someone won the jackpot on Monday night, they would have had the choice between receiving the $922 million prize in annual installments or opting for a significantly lower lump sum cash payment, both figures being pre-tax amounts, according to Powerball regulations.

J&J allows nonprofit to distribute generic TB drug in low, middle-income countries
In a significant move, Swiss-based Global Drug Facility, a nonprofit organisation, has partnered with pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson to supply generic versions of the anti-tuberculosis drug bedaquiline to low and middle-income countries. But the deal has been criticised as it does not ends the company’s monopoly over the drug’s global supplies. The agreement, signed with Global Drug Facility, an arm of Stop TB Partnership, allows the non-profit organisation to tender, procure, and supply generic versions of bedaquiline to 44 low- and middle-income countries.
