Investing.com-- Oil prices fell in Asian trade on Monday, retreating further from recent highs as markets hunkered down ahead of key economic data from China, the world’s largest oil importer, which is expected to show a slowing economic recovery.

MUMBAI : Amid last month’s stock market breakout, Indians purchased the largest quantity of sovereign gold bonds (SGBs) at 7.77 tonnes worth a whopping ₹4,604 crore in the first series of this fiscal year, underscoring the preference for an asset that acts as a hedge against inflation and a safe-haven asset at times of global uncertainty. The SGB scheme, run by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on behalf of the government, has seen an average subscription of 1.72 tonnes across 64 series in the seven years and seven months since its introduction as an alternative to physical gold in 2015.

NEW DELHI : The government is at an advanced stage of formulating a new piece of legislation to offer investors ready approvals for all requirements and replace the special economic zones (SEZ) Act and non-tax measures remain the preferred route for promoting new investments in the country, revenue secretary Sanjay Malhotra said in an interview. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Development of Enterprise and Service Hubs (DESH) Bill in February 2022. The proposed law will replace the existing one governing SEZs.

The police are still clueless about Russell’s whereabouts.
