commercial vehicle (CV) market may hit a new peak by the end of 2023-24 and continue to advance at a brisk pace next fiscal amid robust demand from construction, mining, and other segments, said Dheeraj Hinduja, executive chairman of Ashok Leyland. As a result, the CV market may defy the traditional demand cycle of an upswing and slowdown, Hinduja said. «We do think that we (industry) will hit a new peak and surpass the previous one,» he told ET.

FAME-3 is coming; and here is what changes for EVs
NEW DELHI : The government is considering implementing stricter norms to enforce the use of local components to bolster domestic manufacturing of electric vehicles (EVs) amid instances of companies violating phased manufacturing programme (PMP) norms by assembling vehicles with imported parts. The Union ministry of heavy industries is considering introducing a 50% domestic value addition (DVA) requirement and doing away with the phased manufacturing programme as part of its proposed Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) III, according to two people familiar with the development. DVA is calculated based on the net selling price of a product and the landed cost of imported inputs.

FICCI survey indicates accelerated Indian economic growth in Q2 driven by higher demand
FICCI. About 80% of the respondents to the survey reported a higher number of orders and demand conditions in July-Sept 2023-24, while 79% recorded a higher level of production. The existing average capacity utilisation in manufacturing is around 74%, which reflects a sustained economic activity in the sector, a FICCI statement said, adding that this was slightly higher than 73% capacity utilisation reported in the previous quarters. As per the survey, the future investment outlook has also improved as compared to the previous quarter with over 57% of respondents reporting plans for investment and expansion in the coming six months.
