ABC responds to whistleblower’s rigging charges during presidential debate, 'we stuck to the debate guidelines’
ABC News has denied claims that it provided questions in advance to Kamala Harris before her debate with former President Donald Trump. These allegations stem from an unverified document, purportedly a sworn affidavit, that appeared online. The document, which is said to be signed by a notary public on September 9, suggests there was close collaboration between ABC News and Harris’s team. The document claims that a male staff member, who has worked at ABC for ten years, wrote it. It alleges that ABC News agreed to conditions that would benefit Harris in the debate, including giving her the questions ahead of time. This document surfaced on the social media account of Philip Anderson, a right-wing influencer and January 6 participant, two days after the debate. ABC News has issued a statement saying, «ABC News followed the debate that both campaigns agreed on and which clearly state: No topics or questions will be shared in advance with campaigns or candidates.»

Piyush Goyal proposes indigenous Silicon Valley to promote startup ecosystem
Piyush Goyal, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, has called for an indigenous Silicon Valley, a dedicated township for startups in India, at the launch of Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (Bhaskar). It serves as a central hub for collaboration and exchange of ideas between startups, investors, service providers and government bodies. Goyal pitched a vision to promote the sector's growth, building the largest digital registry for stakeholders within the startup ecosystem. He proposed a township of 25-500 acres to promote the startup ecosystem and provide guidance and support under one roof. On India’s position in the Silicon valley, ET reported earlier about one-third of tech employees in Silicon Valley are of Indian origin. It further said that CEOs of Indian origin head 16 Fortune 500 companies generating nearly $1 trillion in revenue.

Rate cuts in Europe keep Indian IT sector's hopes up
technology budgets soon as Europe has started reducing interest rates and the US is expected to follow suit. While industry analysts foresee this as a tailwind along with the ongoing digital adoption by enterprises, they said the impact on the industry may be felt only by the fourth quarter of this fiscal ending March 2025. «We think the first change will reflect in the management commentary turning more optimistic and references to green shoots in discretionary demand pickup,» said Kumar Rakesh, associate director at BNP Paribas, who closely tracks the IT sector. «Impact on earnings will likely take a little longer and we think it will start reflecting in CY2025.»

E2E Networks is the talk of the town as AI frenzy takes hold
E2E Networks, an artificial intelligence cloud service provider, is getting a lot of attention that the National Stock Exchange-listed company has probably not seen in the 15 years since its inception. The company started offering graphics processing units (GPUs) for cloud computing in 2018, when nobody else was in the market in India. The bet is now paying off, with a customer list of 2,500-3,000 companies, mostly startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and also some big companies. Its stock has yielded almost 280% year-to-date, which according to Bloomberg data makes it one of the top-performing IT stocks of 2024. Delhi-based E2E is well-positioned to participate in the India AI Mission’s tender to procure 10,000 GPUs as part of a consortium.

MeitY unveils second cohort of Samridh scheme for startups
Startup Accelerators of MeitY for Product Innovation, Development and Growth (Samridh) scheme, for which 125 startups will be provided funding support and mentorship, was launched by MeitY secretary S. Krishnan on Monday. The scheme provides a first round of funding of up to Rs 40 lakh. To promote growth of India’s software product industry as part of the 100-day agenda, the Government of India is providing support to 125 startups through potential accelerators to achieve the target of nurturing 300 startups. The startups in turn get a chance to improve their products and attract funding to expand their businesses. Incubators prioritise the long-term sustainability of startups over rapid growth. India has more than 500 incubators but is still nascent in its accelerator ecosystem with K-Start, Talks, Axilor Ventures, Byron, GSF Accelerator, Gain Accelerator, T-Hub being among the few examples, sources said.
