Buy or sell stocks: After showing a narrow range movement on Thursday, the Indian stock market witnessed sharp profit booking and closed lower on Monday. After climbing to a new peak of 22,526 level, the Nifty 50 index lost 160 points and closed at the 22,332 level, the BSE Sensex dipped 616 points and ended at the 73,502 mark whereas the Bank Nifty index nosedived 507 points and finished at 47,327 level.

Tata Motors, which has seen a near-six-fold surge in its stock price through the past five years that helped establish its domestic EV leadership credentials, wants New Delhi to help replicate an enabling environment similar to that in Beijing that has pledged to support adoption of EVs until unit sales touched at least a fifth of all new cars sold. «Globally, major economies (China, Germany) have continued to support EV adoption with demand subsidies until achievement of at least 20% EV adoption,» Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said in the letter dated March 9. «The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry had also recommended in 2023 that the Government broaden the scope and extend FAME by at least three more years to make the scheme more inclusive,» Chandra said in the letter, a copy of which has been seen by ET.

Hungary's new immigration law which was planned to begin on March 1 introduces stricter conditions to existing regulations for third-country nationals (TCNs). The new regulation outlines 24 types, including 8 for the purpose of employment. The residence permit for other purposes, which was a rather flexible category, has been abolished. The previous immigration law in Hungary specified 18 types of residence permits. One of the biggest changes is that the new law introduces separate categories of work permits for highly-skilled workers and low-skilled guest workers, and a new permit for investors.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. rose 0.53 per cent to Rs 292.2 in Monday's trade as of 12:08PM (IST) even as the benchmark Nifty ruled at 22400.75, down 92.8 points. Bullish sentiments and not bottom-up structural fundamentals are driving the rally in PSU stocks, Kotak Institutional Equities said in its latest note, as it highlighted problems in the «euphoric sentiment» surrounding PSU stocks. Even as the headline S&P BSE Sensex gained an impressive 27% over the past 12 months, its peer S&P BSE PSU index (95%) delivered over three-fold returns during the same period.
