Why Mexico and Canada are much happier countries than the US
World Happiness Report 2025 is out. And, surprise, surprise—Mexico and Canada, the two countries frequently targeted by US President Donald Trump, have been ranked much higher than the United States in terms of happiness. According to the UN-backed report, the United States is ranked 24th, while Canada stands at 18th. Surprisingly, Mexico has an even better ranking at 10th place. Notably, this marks the worst ranking for the US since the report's inception in 2012, when it achieved its peak ranking of 11th place. One of the biggest reasons for the decline in American happiness, according to the report, is eating meals alone. «The number of people dining alone in the United States has increased by 53 percent over the past two decades,» the authors stated, highlighting that shared meals are strongly linked to well-being. Data from 2023 showed that approximately 25% of Americans consumed all their daily meals alone.

Best balanced advantage funds or dynamic asset allocation funds to invest in March 2025
balanced advantage funds to new and inexperienced investors for a while now. These advisors believe that these schemes are ideally placed to take care of the current market conditions because of their dynamic portfolio. Advisors are also recommending these schemes to investors to park their lumpsum amounts. Balanced advantage funds invest in a mix of stocks, debt, and arbitrage opportunities. These funds decide their equity exposure depending on key market ratios or in-house parameters. They invest less in stocks when the market is very high or valuations are stretched. They invest more in equity when stocks are available at attractive valuations. In short, BAFs do the job of juggling equity exposure for investors. Govt to come up with new concessional toll charges for highway users: Nitin Gadkari
Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said the government will soon come up with a new policy for toll charges on national highways, offering a reasonable concession to consumers. Replying to queries in Rajya Sabha, the minister also said that the apex committee and high-level empowered committee have recommended further deliberations for satellite-based tolling in view of security and privacy considerations, breach and overall operational control. The ministry of road transport and highways is firming up annual and lifetime charges for toll on national highways likely to be around Rs 3000 for a year and Rs 30,000 for 15 years, paid in one-go. The move is aimed at maintaining cash flow for the government while ensuring seamless travel experience at toll plazas by highway users. Responding to a question, the minister asserted that the government is spending a lot on building road infrastructure and therefore toll charges are necessary. “It is the policy of the department that when you want a good road, you have to pay for it,” Gadkari said. According to the rules of 2008, toll plaza on the same section of the national highway and in the same direction cannot be established within 60 kilometers.

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal to pay alimony to Dhanashree Verma. Not Rs 60 cr but...
Bombay High Court directed the Family Court to hear their case on Thursday, considering Chahal’s participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 22, as reported by Bar and Bench. Chahal and Dhanashree have been living separately for over 2.5 years. Given this, they have requested the court to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period and grant them a divorce immediately. Under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, estranged couples must attempt reconciliation during this period before proceeding with divorce. However, a 2017 Supreme Court ruling allows for this period to be waived if both parties mutually agree. Earlier, on February 20, the Family Court denied their request for an early divorce due to partial alimony payments. Chahal had agreed to pay Dhanashree Rs 4.75 crore as alimony but had only transferred Rs 2.37 crore at the time of the hearing. The court noted that he had only partially fulfilled the settlement terms.
