Turning trash into cash: Entrepreneurs redefine waste management
municipal solid waste into charcoal, a project for which he has set up a plant in Gangoh, a nondescript town in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district. “Cogo (Eco-Tech Solutions) is a Latin word, meaning bringing together,” says Kurishingal, 59, with a smile on his face as he points towards the logo on the new machines. “The USP of this Make-in-India technology is that it requires no segregation of waste at all. All types of waste can be put into a single machine.”

Ankur Warikoo says sheer luck helped him succeed in life, urges followers to recognise their privilege
success is not dependent on variables such as determination, perseverance, or even talent. Having one or all of the three virtues does not sadly guarantee that you will reach the pinnacle of success. Entrepreneur, author, and motivation coach Ankur Warikoo admitted that his success had an element of luck. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Warikoo stated that his gender, appearance, and family all played a vital role in his success. He also urged his followers to acknowledge the importance of luck and good fortune when it comes to attaining prosperity. “5 lucky things that I believe defined 99% of where I am in life today. I was born a male. I was born fair-skinned. I was born to parents who went to college. I was sent to an English medium school. I was raised in a big city (Delhi). It would be pompous af for me to think that it's my hard work, grit, discipline, or anything like that, that played a major role in getting me to where I am in life today. The truth is — I am privileged.

Go on then, put yourself in someone else's shoes
election time. And all I can think of are people who like people who they (think) they are like. There are people who like politicians, writers, artists, actors, sportspersons that they look up to, because the latter provide them some pleasure, joy, purpose. Some of these people are even Indian White supremacists, who genuinely believe that the pavements would be smoother under British governance. Then there are the same people who don't like people who they are not like. Or rather, people who are not like them. The reason for their antipathy could be a difference in faith, dietary habits, regional residency, way he or she behaves in a gathering, or the way one dresses. But this kind of antipathy, even detestation, can be a defining feature of such a person.

Sniffing Out Danger: How dogs are helping Delhi Police combat bomb threats
bomb threats targeting schools in Delhi, a dedicated team of over 7,000 cops, intelligence agents, and bomb squads worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of the city. However, the spotlight shone on a special group of officers that played a pivotal role in these operations – the K-9 squad. Led by dogs with names like Remo, Gabbar, Loafer, and Lucy, these specially trained canines were deployed to sniff through classrooms and sanitize them, giving the authorities the green light to ensure the safety of the premises. For years, the K-9 squad has been an indispensable part of Delhi Police's bomb detection teams. «They are lifesavers, quite literally. They sniff out critical areas first, giving the team a breather and a heads-up on any threats,» said a handler. Currently, the Delhi Police boasts a team of 72 dogs, including 62 sniffers, seven trackers, and three narcotics specialists. The tracker dogs, which include breeds like Labrador, German Shepherd, and Belgian Shepherd, play a crucial role in crime spot investigations as well.

Remember good things which happened before voting: Jagan Mohan Reddy
Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday urged people to remember the good things that happened to them during YSRCP tenure before casting their vote in the forthcoming elections, and listed out a slew of welfare schemes introduced by his government. The ruling party chief said this during a public meeting in Narasapuram in West Godavari district. «Think under whose tenure good things happened and under whom will that good continue. Everybody should think about it and then vote,» said Reddy. Appealing to those who did not vote for him in the past elections, he requested them to go home and discuss with family members. Terming the forthcoming elections as a 'Kurukshetra' battle, Reddy said they are not just to elect MLAs and MPs but to decide the future of every household in the next five years and the continuation of welfare schemes.

Cutting exposure to capital goods, industrial; waiting for IT to bottom out: Devina Mehra
Devina Mehra, Chairperson, MD & Founder,First Global, says: “Capital goods, industrial is now consensus trade. We went overweight on it in October 2021 when it was considered a dark sector. It took the market another two years to discover it. The Stocks have doubled, tripled, even quadrupled and we have been cutting exposure. We have been changing the stocks, but we do not hold as much as we used to, but we still are overweight. But that story may well get over in some quarters. On the other hand, the stocks which we still like are auto, pharma and some construction. While we are not hugely overweight on IT, we are waiting for it to bottom out. Sometime this year that will be the big opportunity.”

Google defends app store, fighting Epic Games' bid for major reforms
Google has asked a U.S. judge not to impose sweeping changes to the Alphabet unit's app store Play that were proposed by «Fortnite» maker Epic Games in the companies' closely-watched antitrust fight. Betting on these 2 PSU banks; Godrej Properties can be a SIP candidate: Abhijit Chokshi
Abhijit Chokshi, Founder, Stockifi.in, says that in the midcap space, he likes Aarti Pharmaceuticals. One of their products is APIs for caffeine and they are one of the top three players in that and the market cap right now is barely Rs 4,000-5,000 crore. He says both Aarti Pharma and Aarti Surfactants will do really well going forward. In terms of the result reactions that we have seen of late – be it Federal Bank today, the South Indian Bank numbers and the other names as well the entire stock equity ecosystem including the KFin Technologies of the world – did anything stand out from financials and stock market ancillaries? Abhijit Chokshi: I am betting mainly on PSU banks. Even though there is a lot of buzz that PSU banks are done with their rally, I believe banks like SBI, PNB will continue the rally going forward. I am expecting numbers to improve for these PSU banks. I am generally bullish on the PSU sector and specifically want to focus on banks. PNB and SBI are my picks.
