Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut on Friday claimed attacks on Marathi-speaking people have increased after the BJP won the Maharashtra assembly polls and alleged that an environment was being created to drive them out of Mumbai and neighbouring areas. Talking to reporters, Raut highlighted an incident at Kalyan in Thane district, where non-Marathi-speaking people allegedly attacked a Marathi-speaking family. He further dubbed the Maharashtra government as «inauspicious» over the death of 14 people in the collision between a navy craft and a passenger ferry. He alleged that dacoity and murders were taking place in villages and districts.

Gold demand in India remained subdued this week as volatile prices prompted potential buyers to delay purchases, while higher rates across China are expected to potentially offset upcoming seasonal demand. Swan Energy has signed a preliminary agreement with Singapore’s AG&P Terminals & Logistics to form a joint venture for supplying liquefied natural gas in India and other countries, the company said in a regulatory filing on Friday. Swan Energy will hold a 51% stake in the JV and AG&P LNG the remaining. AG&P LNG will also collaborate on Swan Energy’s LNG regasification terminal and will also have an option to take equity stake, the companies said. The companies will also form another JV for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and a floating storage unit to operate Swan Energy’s LNG terminal. AG&P LNG will hold 51% stake in this JV with Swan holding the rest.

SME IPO of Identical Brains Studios, which will close for public subscription on Friday, has been subscribed 200 times so far, driven by a robust demand from the market participants. Around 11:30 am, the non-institutional investors (NIIs) subscribed to the issue over 65.6 times while the retail investors applied for 36.55 crore shares, attracting nearly 1.83 lakh bid applications.

Realty developers’ body CREDAI has written to the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman urging a review of the proposal as the move would result in a substantial incremental impact on project costs, pushing housing prices up by around 10% across various property markets of the country. “FSI/ additional FSI charges constitute a significant part of the project cost, and the proposal to impose 18% GST on such charges could prove to be counterproductive and act as a deterrent to housing supply and demand, owing to additional financial obligations and increasing housing prices as a direct consequence. We strongly request and recommend to the Government to keep the FSI charges exempt from GST,” said Boman Irani, president, CREDAI.

The market for dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips used in personal computers and smartphones has remained under pressure since the end of the pandemic amid a lingering supply glut and sluggish consumer demand. Micron's flash memory chip revenue in fiscal 2025 is expected to be significantly weaker, as sales of such chips are more exposed to PC and mobile phone shipments, Morningstar analyst William Kerwin said.

Honda Cars India on Friday said it will hike prices across its model range by up to 2 per cent from January next year, in order to partially offset the impact of rising input costs. The company sells models like Amaze, City and Elevate in the domestic market. The automaker will increase the prices of its models by up to 2 per cent from the beginning of January 2025, Honda Cars India Vice President — Marketing and Sales Kunal Behl said. The company has been making strong efforts to absorb price increases during this year, ensuring minimal impact on customers, he added.
