Dollar edges down as month-end flows weigh
U.S. consumer spending increased more than expected in September, keeping it on a higher growth path heading into the fourth quarter, while monthly inflation was elevated, data on Friday showed. The dollar index, which measures the currency's strength against a basket of six rivals, was 0.1% lower at 106.47, with analysts attributing some of the weakness to month-end flows where investors buy and sell currencies to rebalance their portfolios toward the end of the month.

A year of profitability married with caution
Last year was a lot like a Sunday evening — pleasant and satisfying, but with the clear and gathering notion of hard work ahead. Losses in the financial markets and continued inflation created the expectation over the year that dire times may be on the horizon. As a result, we saw a year of profitability, but also one of cautious spending and hiring.

Who is Iñigo Quintero? Know about the rising star who conquered Spotify's global chart
Iñigo Quintero, a name that until recently remained in relative obscurity beyond Spain's borders, made a remarkable leap to stardom. On a single day, "Si No Estás," one of Quintero's compositions, amassed over 5.7 million plays, catapulting it to the pinnacle of Spotify's global chart. This remarkable feat marked the first time a solo Spanish artist achieved such an accomplishment. In a previous instance, Canary Islander Quevedo achieved similar success alongside Argentina's Bizarrap with «Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52.» But Quintero's ascent doesn't end there. «Si No Estás» also etched its name into the annals of Billboard's global charts, securing the fourth spot on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and landing at number ten on Billboard Global 200. This meteoric rise is all the more astounding because it transpired without the aid of conventional promotional strategies, press releases, or public information about the enigmatic artist behind the sensation. Even when Billboard Español sought an interview with Quintero's representative, the response was that he is not presently engaging with the press.

Ambani siblings on board: Why India Inc needs more young people at the top
Reliance Industries have approved appointment of Chairman Mukesh Ambani's son Anant Ambani, along with his elder siblings Akash and Isha, as non-executive directors on the company board. At 28 years of age, Anant, three years younger than his two siblings, was seen as too young for the role. Institutional Shareholder Services Inc., an international proxy advisory firm, and Mumbai-based Institutional Investor Advisory Services had recommended that shareholders vote against the proposal of Anant Ambani's appointment on the board. Reliance had told the proxy companies that Anant has “the relevant experience and maturity to add value to the board deliberations” given his participation in the conglomerate’s businesses and the grooming he has received from senior leadership over the years.

Mint Explainer: Why Narayana Murthy's call for a 70-hour work week won't fly
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have asked employees to return to office three days a week but Infosys, HCL Technologies and Wipro continue to allow employees to come in between one and three days a week. The companies are all nudging employees rather than imposing blanket rules, citing cohesive team work, better data safety, and lower chances of moonlighting. But this stance is in direct contrast to their approach when the hiring frenzy was at its peak.

Should you have more than one credit card? How to manage payments?
Ritesh Srivastava, Founder & CEO, FREED, says “I would advise consumers that it does not give you points to own four or five credit cards. The key is to identify your needs. What is it that you will have the ability to pay in full at the end of the month? Just own those many credit cards and keep one for rainy day expenses but as long as you are financially disciplined. Credit can be a great asset for an individual, but if not handled wisely, can soon turn into a big debt trap.” How many credit cards do you own? I own about four credit cards but I use two credit cards very frequently. So, I may own four, but I only use two credit cards when it comes to running any charges on it.
