Market wrap: Sensex, Nifty hit record highs on gains led by Infosys, RIL; mid, smallcaps underperform Here is the list of stocks who are top gainers and losers during July 18 trading session: Top gainers: Infosys Ltd (up 3.73%), Asian Paints Ltd (up 1.51%), HCL Technologies Ltd (up 1.07%), Reliance Industries Ltd (up 0.98%), and ICICI Bank Ltd (up 0.59%).  Top losers: State Bank of India Ltd (down 1.36%), Titan Company Ltd (down 1.32%), Bajaj Finance Ltd (down 1.29%), Tata Motors Ltd (down 1.19%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (down 0.98%). Shares of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals(up 2.67 per cent), Aurobindo Pharma(up 2.21 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(up 1.05 per cent), Ipca Laboratories(up 0.85 per cent) and Abbott India(up 0.84 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Divis Laboratories(down 0.99 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.97 per cent), Gland Pharma(down 0.87 per cent), Natco Pharma(down 0.76 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.74 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

Following the announcement, shares of Patanjali Foods shot up 2.91% to touch an intraday high of ₹1,259 apiece before closing at ₹1,223.35 apiece. IPO Subscription Status: The initial public offering (IPO) of Netweb Technologies Ltd was subscribed 94% on Day 1 so far. The public issue that opened for subscription on Monday, July 17, and will end on Wednesday, July 19. Employees and retail investors enthusiastically responded to the issue on the first day of subscription, followed by non-institutional investors (NIIS), and qualified institutional buyers (QIBs).  Retail investors portion was subscribed 1.38 times, employee portion was subscribed 3.79 times, NIIs portion was subscribed 1.06 times, and QIBs portion was subscribed 1%.

Benjamin Netanyahu was discharged from the Sheba Medical Center where he was treated since Saturday following dizziness caused by a day in the sun during an intense heat wave, his office said. The hospital diagnosed Netanyahu with dehydration and said he was in «excellent condition,» that his heart was «completely normal» and «at no point was any heart arrhythmia found.» However, «in order to continue routine monitoring, we decided to use a subcutaneous Holter,» the statement said.

Florida are grappling with the implications of a new book-challenge law, forcing them to reconsider their approaches to selecting and teaching books. The law, which took effect on July 1 after being signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, requires districts to discontinue the use of any material deemed to contain «sexual conduct» as defined by the state. This has raised concerns among educators, media specialists, and book-access advocates who fear that valuable literature may be removed from classrooms due to the broad interpretation of the law. Media specialists like Kathleen Malloy in Leon County and others around the state are concerned that the new legislation, known as HB 1069, could restrict access to books containing scenes or content considered to be «sexual conduct.» Even books needed for important exams like the College Board's Advanced Placement literature exam and dual-enrollment classes may be affected. Some districts, awaiting guidance from the Florida Department of Education, have put their review processes on hold.

Karnataka has restrained the chairman of TD Power System Ltd (TDPSL) and several others from transferring shares worth Rs 555 crore of the company. The court passed the interim order on a petition by Vijay Ravindra Kirloskar, the chairman of city-based Kirloskar Electric Company (KEC) who founded TDPSL in 1999. Kirloskar along with the several KEC Welfare Trusts had moved the high court seeking a direction to several persons who hold 2.51 crore shares worth Rs 555 crore in the company, not to transfer or sell them in the stock market. Kirloskar and the Trusts had approached a commercial court in Bengaluru seeking an injunction against the chairman of TDPSL and a family friend of Kirloskar, Mohib Nomanbhai Khericha, Kirloskar's nephew Nikhil Kumar and others from alienating Rs 2.51 crore shares of TDPSL held by them. The Commercial Court had refused to give a temporary injunction following which Kirloskar and the Trusts petitioned the HC. A single judge bench of Justice S R Krishna Kumar on July 12 granted the interim order and gave the respondents one week to file their objects and seek for vacating the interim order.

NASA's database on Moon missions.India on Friday launched its third mission to the Moon, Chandrayaan-3, with an aim to soft-land on the surface of Earth's only natural satellite. A successful landing would make India the fourth country to achieve the rare feat after the United States, China and the erstwhile USSR. According to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the technically challenging soft landing on the lunar surface, which Chandrayaan-2 could not achieve, has been planned for 5.47 pm on August 23. Former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair said the success rate of lunar missions is nearly 50 per cent because of the uncertainties when the rockets leave Earth's gravitational field. «The influence of other planets, from the Sun, is quite a bit. A lot of radiation conditions exist in space and this leaves some equipment or components prone to failure. In India's both missions (Chandrayaan 1 and 2), we have precisely reached the moon's orbit,» Nair told PTI.
