police custody at Chipiyana Chowki in the Bisrakh police station area of Greater Noida. The deceased, Yogesh, had his brother, Jitendra, make serious allegations against the police, claiming they demanded five lakh rupees for his release. In response, the Noida Police Commissioner has suspended all police personnel stationed at the Chowki, a NBT report stated. Yogesh, employed at a bakery in Chipiyana, was brought in for questioning after allegations were made against him by a colleague. According to Jitendra, his brother was taken by the police who demanded a hefty sum for his release. Despite Jitendra providing Rs 50,000 and a bottle of liquor, the police allegedly demanded an additional four and a half lakh rupees. Tragically, Yogesh was found hanging the following morning. A police officer revealed that Yogesh, originally from Aligarh, worked in a Chipiyana bakery where a female colleague had leveled accusations against him. Yogesh was called in for questioning and, on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, he was discovered having committed suicide at the police station. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Stock market today: The Indian stock market, despite strong global cues, snapped a three-day winning streak on Wednesday. The first month of 2024-25 has been a mixed bag for India’s trade. Exports edged up 1.1% from a year earlier to nearly $35 billion in April, but imports grew faster at 10.3% to $54.1 billion, widening the trade deficit to a four-month high of $19.1 billion. Do you think the trend is sustainable in the long term? We have seen the time when we had Rs 17,000-crore worth of unsold inventory. We have seen the struggle and pain and we don't want to go back to those days… We have to motivate brokers and investors. This is the time when people are believing in the DLF story and I don't have to prove myself to a third party. My record books are clean and anyone can come and do random checks. If people are now coming to DLF and believing that their aspirations will be met (and) their money is safe. NASA has unveiled its plan to construct the first lunar railway system, designed to offer reliable, autonomous, and efficient payload transport on the Moon. In its official blog, NASA said that this durable, long-lasting robotic transport system will be essential for the daily operations of a sustainable lunar base envisioned for the 2030s, as part of NASA’s Moon to Mars initiative and mission concepts like the Robotic Lunar Surface Operations 2 (RLSO2). «Moreover, NASA has proposed a solution for transporting regolith mined for ISRU consumables (H2O, LOX, LH2) or construction materials, as well as for moving payloads around the lunar base and to/from landing zones or other outposts,» NASA added. The agency introduced FLOAT — Flexible Levitation on a Track — to address these transportation needs. The FLOAT system utilizes unpowered magnetic robots that levitate over a 3-layer flexible film track. This track comprises a graphite layer for passive floating using diamagnetic levitation, a flex-circuit layer for generating electromagnetic thrust to propel robots along the tracks, and an optional thin-film solar panel layer for power generation when exposed to sunlight.

Bharti Airtel managing director Gopal Vittal said rival Vodafone Idea’s recent Rs 18,000 crore capital raise will increase competition but is good for India’s telecom sector, which requires three strong players. He added that the telecom industry urgently needs substantial tariff repair, ideally via multiple rounds of price hikes to boost average revenue per user (ARPU) to the Rs 300 level as the current returns are way too low. Vittal did not specifically comment on when Airtel would start charging a premium for its 5G services, but conceded that the current high levels of data consumption — in the present 5G at 4G rates scenario — would automatically decline once 5G services are priced in. Airtel’s 5G user base was at 72 million in the quarter ended March 2024, and the telco is adding around 2-2.5 million 5G users a month amid rising device shipments, he added.

Nifty on Wednesday ended 17 points lower to form a high wave type candle on the daily chart. The index largely traded sideways and failed to generate any significant directional breakout. The short-term trend of Nifty continues to be up. Further consolidation or minor dip in the market is expected before showing further upmove. A sustainable move above the immediate resistance of 22,300 levels is likely to open the doors for the higher target of 22,600 levels in the near term. Immediate support is at 22,070 level, said Nagaraj Shetti, Senior Technical Research Analyst, HDFC Securities.
