ITC share price jumps over 8%, posts biggest single-day gain since September 2021, as BAT sells 3.5% stake in block deal
₹439.00 apiece on the BSE. Around 43.7 crore ITC shares, amounting to 3.5% of the total equity of the company, changed hands in a block deal that took place in the pre-market block window. The shares were sold at an average price of ₹400.4 apiece, taking the total transaction value to ₹17,491 crore, reports said.

Asian Development Bank approves funding of Rs 1294 crore for various developmental projects in Tehri District
Department of Tourism, Government of Uttarakhand on Wednesday said that Tehri is set for a makeover with several developmental projects on the anvil for which the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a funding of Rs 1294 crore. The projects will be funded in a ratio of 80:20 with ADB bearing 80% of the expenditure and the Uttarakhand government bearing 20% of the expenses. Sachin Kurve, Secretary, Tourism, and CEO of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board said that in order to promote sustainable inclusive, climate resilient tourism, and for the development of designated areas in Tehri, the state decided to develop Tehri Lake and surrounding areas as a “Special Tourist Area” after which Tehri Special Area Development Authority (TADA) was established under the Tehri Special Area Development Act 2013.

BAT to sell 3.5% in ITC on Wednesday, may raise up to ₹17,480 crore
₹17,484 crore ($2.11 billion). BAT, which holds over 29% in the cigarettes-to-hotels conglomerate, will sell the shares at ₹384–400.25 each, implying a 4–5% discount to ITC’s Tuesday closing price of ₹401.90 on the NSE. ITC shares fell 1.83% earlier in the day, while the benchmark Nifty index closed unchanged.

BAT to sell 3.5% stake in ITC via block deal
BAT Plc on Tuesday said in a statement that its wholly-owned subsidiary Tobacco Manufacturers (India) Ltd will sell around 3.5% stake in ITC Ltd to institutional investors by way of a block deal and has launched the process. BAT said after the completion of the proposed block deal, BAT will continue to remain a significant shareholder of ITC with around 25.5% holding. BAT wanted to have more than 25% shareholding in ITC to have a strategic influence and veto rights in the company, chief executive Tadeu Marroco had said in December.

Jammu Kashmir National Front banned by govt under UAPA
government on Tuesday banned the Jammu Kashmir National Front led by Nayeem Ahmad Khan under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. In an order, the Ministry of Home Affairs declared the JKNF, a constituent of the hardline Hurriyat Conference, an "unlawful association" with immediate effect. The government said the JKNF has been «indulging in unlawful activities, which are prejudicial to the integrity, sovereignty, and security of the country.» It said members of the JKNF have remained involved in supporting terrorist activities and anti-India propaganda for fuelling secessionism in Jammu and Kashmir and providing logistic support to terrorists in the Union territory.

L&T Finance signs $125-million pact with JICA to aid farmers and women entrepreneurs
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for $125 million to fund mostly farmers and women entrepreneurs in rural and semi urban India. This is the second such fund raise by the company in the past four months. At least 40% of the funds will be allocated to women borrowers while the rest will be disbursed to farmers, MSMEs, and two-wheeler loans. Last November, L&T Finance sourced $125 million from Asia Development Bank for a similar lending programme. “Despite steady rural economic growth, accessing financial services remains a challenge for rural communities, Ms. Apurva Rathod, Company Secretary & Chief Sustainability Officer of the company. ``A large percentage of marginal farmers lack formal access to credit, with women being disproportionately affected.”

Maruti Suzuki's in-plant railway siding, India's first such project, inaugurated by PM Modi in Gujarat
in-plant railway siding project (of Maruti Suzuki) was inaugurated by PM Modi in Gujarat on March 12. The project is at Hansalpur in Gujarat's Mehsana district. Modi inaugurated it virtually from a function in Ahmedabad. Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Rs 85,000 crore railway projects, including the launch of 10 new Vande Bharat trains, from Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad. He also visited the Dedicated Freight Corridor's (DFC) Operation Control Centre. The project is under PM Gati Shakti mission, in collaboration with the Gujarat government, Indian Railways, and MSIL. The cost of the project is Rs 976 crore. This is the first time in India that an automobile company has established an in-plant railway siding, Rahul Bharti, MSIL's Executive Officer for Corporate Affairs, said.
