How Rahul Mishra's designs reflect the interwoven beauty of nature and humanity
Rahul Mishra’s oeuvre, implicitly or explicitly, from luxuriant tropical flora, lizards, honeybees and cocooned silkworms to living coral atolls, billowing cnidarians and towering arboreal biomes. Yet he is ever mindful of the impact of man-made progress too. Joyful, vibrant profusion or sombre, reflective symbolism, Mishra expresses the disturbing dichotomy of our modern world with rare sensitivity. The interconnectedness of the cosmos is a common thread in his work, which is why Mishra’s ensembles were the natural choice to enhance the message of The 25th edition of the Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence. In an interview, Mishra expands upon his inspiration and motivation.

Thinking of Quitting? Wait! Job-hopping no longer pays off as salary boost for changing jobs hits 10-year low, nearly matching job stayers
The latest federal data found that the pay gap between employees who remain in their positions and those who switch jobs has fallen to its lowest point in a decade, the Wall Street Journal reported. During the first two months of 2025, workers who remained with their previous employers received a 4.6% bump in pay, while job switchers received about a 4.8% hike, as per the report. While the fall in hike started from 2025, yet the difference was slightly more, job switchers gained an average of 7.7% in salary compared to the job stayers' 5.5% bump, according to Wall Street Journal.

Harvard announces free tuition for students from families making $200k or less; here’s what it covers
Harvard University announced on Monday that they will offer free tuition to students from families earning $200,000 or less per year. The aid, the university said, will be handed out starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. The initiative significantly expands the university’s financial aid programme and aims to make higher education more accessible to a broader range of students. Harvard President Alan M Garber stated that the move would diversify student backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. This, he said, will foster intellectual and personal growth. As per the reports, the expansion will enable 86 per cent of the families in the United States to qualify for Harvard’s financial aid programme. The announcement of assistance furthers its commitment to supporting students from diverse economic backgrounds.

Atmosphere seemed so volatile, dangerous: Indian PhD candidate who 'self deported' from US
Ranjani Srinivasan, an Indian student at Columbia University who opted to «self-deport» after her visa was revoked, has described the terrifying moment when federal immigration agents first knocked on the door of her varsity apartment. The immigration agents were searching for Srinivasan, 37, who had recently learned her student visa had been revoked. Srinivasan, an international PhD student from India, did not open the door when the three immigration agents knocked at it, the New York Times reported. She was not home when the agents showed up again the next night. She packed a few belongings, left her cat behind with a friend and jumped on a flight to Canada at LaGuardia Airport, the report added. When the agents returned a third time, this past Thursday night, and entered her apartment with a judicial warrant, she was gone.

It is not as gloomy for EMs but most flows are going to Europe now: Cameron Brandt
Cameron Brandt, Director of Research, EPFR Global, says it is now the turn of US equity funds to see something of a reversion to the mean. The free pass they got in the immediate aftermath of Donald Trump's election, if not revoked, is certainly being scrutinised. The past 10 days have not been terrible for emerging markets. There has been a pickup of flows into dedicated Europe and Japan equity funds. In India, valuations are starting to get to levels where people will be comfortable again and maybe even see an upside. The last time we spoke, there was only bad news for emerging markets like India. When do you think there will be only good news for emerging markets like India? Cameron Brandt: It is certainly not quite as gloomy for emerging markets as when we last talked. But the emerging markets that are doing best at the moment are the ones perceived as being geared to Europe. We have had a fairly bumpy period, but it is Europe that has been catching the attention and flows. That said, the reallocation away from emerging markets definitely seems to be slowing. It has not stopped, but there are certainly points of life in the general universe and it is now the turn of US equity funds to see something of a reversion to the mean.

After Green Cards, is Trump now targeting H-1B visa holders?
deportation of Dr. Rasha Alawieh, a kidney transplant specialist and professor at Brown University’s medical school, has sparked concerns about the treatment of H-1B visa holders under the Trump administration. Despite holding a valid H-1B visa and a federal court order temporarily blocking her removal, Alawieh was deported, raising questions about the future of employment-based visas in the United States. Dr. Alawieh, a Lebanese citizen, was detained at Boston Logan International Airport after returning from a family visit to Lebanon. She was held for 36 hours before being put on a flight to Paris, even though US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had been ordered to give 48 hours' notice before any such action. CBP has not provided an explanation for why the court order was disregarded. Legal representatives for Dr. Alawieh and her cousin, Yara Chehab, have filed cases against senior Trump administration officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, seeking answers on whether her deportation signals a policy shift against H-1B visa holders.
