NEW DELHI : India’s demand for petroleum products, particularly diesel, will spike this year on increased industrial and construction activity, as well as because of the upcoming national election that’s held once in five years, as per S&P Global Commodity Insights. Demand for petroleum products in 2024 is likely to grow by about 206,000 barrels per day, with gasoil (diesel) and gasoline (petrol) accounting for about 65% of the growth, S&P Global said in a report. In February, India’s demand for petroleum products increased by 132,000 barrels per day (bpd), or 2.4%, year-on-year, and by 256,000 bpd from January.

Citroen on Thursday said it plans to scale up the sales network in India to over 200 outlets by the end of this year, a three-fold jump from its existing touchpoints. rupee ended marginally higher on Thursday tracking rangebound price action across most of its Asian peers, while dollar-rupee forward premiums maintained their downtrend on an uptick in U.S. bond yields. The rupee closed at 82.8175, slightly stronger from its close at 82.8625 in the previous session.

Elon Musk had filed a lawsuit against OpenAI earlier this month at the San Francisco Superior Court of breach of contract. In the lawsuit Musk accused OpenAI of breach of fiduciary duty and unfair business practices, claiming that the AI company has breached its founding agreement and should revert to an open source platform.

Bank of Baroda (BoB), which PSU bank stock has better long-term investment opportunities. Both SBI and BoB have given double-digit returns this year so far but SBI has been the better performer. While SBI has risen almost 16 percent in 2024 YTD, BoB has advanced 12 percent in this period.
