Global oil market dynamics are shifting in favour of India’s energy plans
The global oil market has been roiled over the last several years. The demand shock during the pandemic, gradually evolving demand dynamics due to the electric vehicle (EV) transition, disruption of tanker movements following the Israel-Hamas war and economic sanctions against Russia, in interaction with supply responses to these events, have impacted international oil prices, trade flows and investments. Emerging clean energy technologies and more widespread efficiency policies and techniques are combining to slow down growth in oil demand.

F&O trading: Do retail investors really need Sebi's big brother oversight?
₹50,000 crores a day with a notional value to premium ratio of 500+, a really big black swan move (10% lower or upper circuit) could easily wipe out the margin of many option sellers. Retail traders and larger players also sell options in large quantities, and the systemic risk of extreme blow-ups increases with higher option participation. Second, retail investors don’t really need “protection" from overtrading.

It's France's moment of truth. Here's how its snap elections work and what comes next
elections that could produce the country's first far-right government since the World War II Nazi occupation — or leave it with no majority emerging at all. Marine Le Pen's anti-immigration, nationalist party National Rally stands a chance of winning a legislative majority for the first time, but the outcome remains uncertain because of a complex voting system and tactical maneuvers by political parties. What's happening Sunday? Voters across France and overseas territories can cast ballots for 501 of the 577 seats in the National Assembly, the lower and most important of France's two houses of parliament. The other 76 races were won outright in the first round of voting.

US allies allege China is developing attack drones for Russia
Iranian model deployed in Ukraine, European officials familiar with the matter said, a sign that Beijing may be edging closer to providing the sort of lethal aid that western officials have warned against. The companies held talks in 2023 about collaborating to replicate Iran’s Shahed drone, and started developing and testing a version this year in preparation for shipment to Russia, said the officials, who asked not to be identified to discuss private information. The Chinese drones have yet to be used in Ukraine, they said. Providing Russia a Shahed-like attack drone would mark a deepening of Beijing’s support for Russia despite repeated warnings from the US and its allies. President Xi Jinping has sought to portray China as neutral in the conflict in Ukraine even as western officials say it’s provided components and other support for President Vladimir Putin’s forces.
