Moody's downgrades Israel's credit rating on war risks; outlook negative
Moody's downgraded Israel's credit rating on Friday, citing material political and fiscal risks for the country from its war with the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The impact of the conflict raises political risk and weakens Israel's executive and legislative institutions, and its fiscal strength for the foreseeable future, said Moody's, which had begun the review for a downgrade on Oct. 19.

Morning Coffee: The Goldman Sachs analyst who worked at a supermarket to meet real people. Banks are heading for a crisis that only boomers will recognise
It’s pretty unusual to find a junior investment banker in a supermarket at the weekend. This is partly because it’s unusual to find a junior investment banker anywhere outside the office at the weekend, but also because if they do have some free time, they’ll usually spend it doing something more glamorous. Mohammed Zina is apparently built different. When he joined Goldman Sachs in 2014, he kept his weekend job at Sainsbury’s.

Netanyahu orders population of Gaza's crowded Rafah evacuated ahead of an expected ground invasion
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has ordered the military to prepare a plan to evacuate the population of Rafah ahead of an expected Israeli invasion of the southern Gaza town. Netanyahu made the announcement Friday following international criticism of Israel's plan to invade the crowded town on Egypt's border. Israel says Rafah is the last remaining Hamas stronghold and it needs to send in troops to complete its war plan against the Islamic militant group. But an estimated 1.5 million Palestinians have crammed into the town after fleeing fighting elsewhere in Gaza. Netanyahu said a «massive operation» is needed in Rafah. He said he asked security officials to present a «double plan» that would include the evacuation of civilians and a military operation to «collapse» remaining Hamas militant units.

Donald Glover called the departure of Phoebe Waller-Bridge from 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' remake a separation
Waller-Bridge has departed from Mr & Mrs Smith. In the latest interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Donald Glover emphasized that her departure from «Mr. & Mrs. Smith» has been perceived as an actual divorce where the hard part is in knowing when to say it has come to an end. Further, he has talked about the varying casting reiterations of «Mr & Mrs. Smith», the 2005 Amazon Studios Adaptation of the film which stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Before Maya Erskine, the «Pen 15» actress was tapped to portray Jane to Glover's John. Donald Glover has stated that it was an unusual separation and noted that a good relationship is one where one does not flicker from the uncomfortable situations. And that he does not know if they are ever going to reach a place where they could be entirely savage towards each other.

As the White House ponders its response to the attack on Tower 22, the U.S. military outpost in Jordan, the news from the Middle East could hardly be worse. From Gaza to the Red Sea and from Jordan to Iraq, a stream of unprovoked attacks by Iran and its proxies are driving President Biden into the greatest crisis of his presidency.

Iran denies links to Jordan drone strike that killed 3 US troops
Iran denied Monday any links to a drone strike in Jordan that killed three US military personnel and said it was not seeking an «expansion» of conflict in the Middle East. The killing of three American troops on Sunday in a strike in Jordan marked the first US military losses in the region since the Israel-Hamas war began. US President Joe Biden said "radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq" were behind the strike on the frontier base in Jordan's northeast. British Foreign Secretary David Cameron reiterated a call for Iran «to de-escalate in the region». Iran lambasted what it described as «baseless accusations» and said they were a «projection» and part of a «conspiracy of those who see their interests in dragging America's foot into a new battle». «The Islamic Republic of Iran does not welcome the expansion of conflict in the region,» Iran's foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said in a statement, adding that Tehran «is not involved in the decisions of the resistance groups». Iran has previously said it sees it as «duty» to support what it calls «resistance groups» in the region but insists they are «independent» in decision and action. Sunday's strike also left 34 personnel wounded, eight of whom required evacuation, according to the US Central Command. US troops operate at the base known as Tower 22 near Jordan's border with Iraq and Syria as part of an international coalition against the Islamic State jihadist group. Tensions have surged in the Middle East since Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, leaving around 1,140 deaths, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally of official figures. Israel has since launched a

‘Have no doubt, US shall respond,’ warns Joe Biden after Iran-backed group kills 3 US troops
Joe Biden said on Sunday that the US “shall respond" in response to an overnight drone strike near the Syrian border in northeast Jordan, resulting in the deaths of three American troops and injuries to dozens more. As reported by AP, Biden blamed the initial US fatalities in months, amid ongoing strikes by similar groups against American forces in the Middle East, on Iran-backed militias.

Top Senators call to ‘hit hard’ Iran after drone attack killed US troops in Jordan
Joe Biden vowed retaliation, saying in a statement that “we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing."
