markets UPS Enterprise Election wellness trends Trade Growth momentum pickup in midcaps much stronger: Ankur Rudra, JP Morgan
Ankur Rudra of JPMorgan says on a broad-based basis, we do not have the visibility that industry growth is going to double digits yet and hence, as we go towards the end of FY25, we may not have the momentum we need for FY26 to be a double-digit growth year. More specific sectors are doing well. Some sub-segments like financial services, maybe parts of high-tech are doing well. Some of the midcaps are doing well but broad-based recovery is still elusive. If there is any kind of macro impact, that is the main sort of headwind to watch out for. A lot of questions are being raised about whether Indian IT services can catch up with the AI boom or whether services providers will manage to beat the product manufacturers dominant in the US? What is your view? Ankur Rudra: On the AI side of the equation, it is useful to take a step back and remember that tech services companies effectively tend to implement a lot of the new technology that comes by. At the moment, it is AI, before this was cloud. So, to implement AI at an enterprise level, most large enterprises will need IT services companies to help them with doing that to integrate IT and AI into their processes. I think there will be a role for them.

markets economy wellness trends Trade track India will always have some premium; in October, when FIIs sold $11 bn, HDFC AMC saw record SIP flows: Navneet Munot
Navneet Munot, MD & CEO, HDFC AMC, says in the journey of Sensex from 1,000 to 75,000, we have seen many corrections and a bit of volatility is healthy for the market. Foreigners have lightened their positions and maybe as the results season kick in, maybe after a quarter or so, and people get more faith on the earnings for, let us say, FY26, FY27, FY28, coming back on track. Munot is pretty sure that investors would come back and India will always have some premium. One cannot compare other countries with a lower capital efficiency. India’s capital efficiency has been better, growth prospects have been better and the governance standards are better, and one has to pay some premium for that. What is the total AMC size right now, the AUM? Navneet Munot: It is over Rs 7.5 lakh crore. We have come a long way…

markets Analysis Puzzle Election wellness Trade As many puzzles as lessons from Maharashtra & Jharkhand elections which proved there’s more to BJP than just Narendra Modi: Swaminathan Aiyar
Swaminathan Aiyar, Consulting Editor, ET Now, says Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections show there are as many puzzles as lessons. There are no clear-cut lessons. While Hindutva line and local issues worked in BJP’s favour in Maharashtra while in Jharkhand they did not. But BJP will be happy that even where it has done badly in the general election, where Mr Modi mattered, it can do very well in the state election. It would be extremely heartening for the BJP to say there is much more to this party than just Mr Narendra Modi, that is a positive. In Maharashtra, the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is all set to form the government. I guess the markets would like that, right? It is continuity and stability. Swaminathan Aiyar: Yes, categorically yes. It is not just that they won, they won with such a phenomenal sweep. I mean, it is like a slap on the face of the Congress party and the INDIA bloc. The INDIA bloc did recover something by winning Jharkhand quite convincingly going against the opinion polls that had suggested it might be a dead heat or something.

UPS Booking Food wellness Trade patient The delicious and global influence of the Jesuits
Society of Jesus, or Jesuits, wanted to use this hot new technology — just over a century old — to spread Christianity in the East. This press was meant for Abyssinia (Ethiopia), but the winds took it round Africa and up to India, where it docked in Goa. It was getting ready to sail again, when it was learned that the Abyssinian emperor no longer wanted it. Francis Xavier, one of the Jesuits’s founders, had established a strong presence in Goa. So, when this news came, the Jesuits quickly set up the press. Printing using carved surfaces may have existed in India before this, but this press produced the first Indian books using movable type. This was in Roman script, but attempts were made to cast types in Indian scripts, first Tamil and then Devanagari. The earliest texts were religious, but in 1563, the press printed a book whose title translates as Colloquies on the Simples and Drugs of India (1563). Written by physician and naturalist Garcia da Orta in the form of dialogues with a fictional friend named Ruano, it describes the useful plants of India. Through the conversations, which include visits to patients, a fascinating picture emerges of the trading world of India and the Arabian Sea.

markets UPS Citizens Strategy wellness Experts Profiles RBI set to cut rates soon: Which debt mutual fund should you invest in now?
SBI, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, have hiked their deposit rates. You can earn 7.25% interest on deposits of 1-2 years. Smaller banks, such as the Bandhan Bank, are offering 8%, while NBFCs, such as Sriram Finance, are giving up to 8.9% per annum. Senior citizens can expect 0.5-0.75% higher rates. Sitting in their house in Bengaluru, senior citizens Ranjitha and B. Srikumar are not enthused by the high rates offered on bank deposits. Their pensions put them in the 30% tax bracket, which means the post-tax yield of a 7.75% fixed deposit is barely 5.3%. “We are looking to invest in a debt fund that can give better returns than fixed deposits,” says the retired Air Force officer.

markets Google Strategy awards wellness Trade reports Reliance's refining margins recover but retail remains uncertain
Reliance Industries Ltd's recent underperformance — weak refining margin — has reversed but the other, poor-retail top-line growth, is difficult to anticipate, brokerage JP Morgan said in a report. Reliance stock is down 22 per cent from its peak on July 8 (NIFTY down 3.3 per cent), sharply reversing outperformance from earlier in the year. In a market where most stocks are trading well above historical valuations, Reliance's fair relative valuations are an attraction. The company helmed by billionaire Mukesh Ambani has three main business verticals — oil refining and petrochemical business housed in oil-to-chemical (O2C) unit, telecom arm Jio and retail. It also has a media unit and a new energy business.
