The American fintech Ripple has acquired the Switzerland-based blockchain firm Metaco for $250 million, marking its first entry into the asset tokenization field.

Bitcoin's price has once again dipped below $27,000, indicating a slight selloff in the broader cryptocurrency market.

BTC volume stood at approximately $13.2 billion, rising 9.41% in the last 24 hours. «After a day of upward trend, crypto markets have been under minor selling pressure in the last 24 hours. Bullish sentiments seem to be gradually restoring as the crypto fear and greed index stands at 54, up 4 points from yesterday. The crypto-cautious investors, however, continue to observe from the sidelines,» Parth Chaturvedi, Investments Lead at CoinSwitch Ventures, said. Other top crypto tokens were also trading lower. Solana and Polkadot declined by over 2%. BNB, Polygon, and Dogecoin were also trading with cuts.

BTC volume stood at approximately $11.9 billion, rising 25.5% in the last 24 hours. «Bitcoin recovered a bit, gaining over 1% in the past 24 hours after experiencing a downward trend the last week due to industry-focused and macroeconomic uncertainties. BTC’s immediate resistance is at US$27,400 and then US$27,800 which might start a decent increase. Whereas the support lies at US$27,000,» Edul Patel, Co-founder and CEO at Mudrex, said. Other top crypto tokens were also trading higher on Monday. Litecoin Surged by over 7%. BNB, Polygon, Dogecoin and Solana were also trading with gains.

The United States stock markets are trying to recover on reports that the debt ceiling talks are showing promise and a debt default may be avoided. However, the same enthusiasm is not seen in the cryptocurrency markets. Bitcoin (BTC) has slipped back below the $27,000 support on May 17, indicating that buyers are struggling to sustain the relief rallies.

The crypto winter has been long and harsh, and as a result, crypto conferences are toning down the lavishness. Attendees are no longer interested in DJs and parties; they want to focus on discussing regulation and tax issues. Tiffany Fong, a popular crypto vlogger, attended her first crypto conference this year and observed that attendees were more interested in asking intelligent questions and discussing regulatory issues, rather than enjoying the extravagances of past events.

The acquisition marks Ripple's first foray into a growing institutional crypto custody market that the firm says could hit $10 trillion by 2030. Metaco's main offering, Harmonize, has been chosen by major global custodians, top-tier banks such as Societe Generale, and corporates.

Blockchain firm Ripple said Wednesday it has acquired Metaco, a Swiss firm that holds digital assets securely on behalf of clients, in a bid to expand its international footprint and broaden its range of services.

Ripple has bought Metaco, the Swiss crypto custody firm that counts Citi, BNP Paribas and Standard Chartered-backed Zodia Custody among its clients, in a $250m deal.

The XRP price has jumped by 5% in the past 24 hours, after the judge presiding over Ripple's case with the SEC denied the regulator's motion to seal important documents.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission cannot seal certain documents in connection with a 2018 speech from agency’s former director Bill Hinman in its case against Ripple, a judge ruled on Tuesday. 

The market turbulence of XRP, the cryptocurrency by Ripple, has been a topic of heated discussion lately as the SEC's case continues to sour.

XRP, the cryptocurrency that powers the global payments-focused decentralized layer-1 blockchain protocol the XRP Ledger that was created by US fintech company Ripple, continues to consolidate just to the north of its 200-Day Moving Average, having found robust support above this key level last week.

The debt ceiling negotiations in the United States are keeping traders on the edge. JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon recently told Bloomberg on May 11 that a possible sovereign default by the U.S. government could create panic in the stock markets, resulting in heightened volatility.

Multiple factors are being speculated as the reasons behind the fall in prices, including increasing network congestion, rising transaction fees, and even an incorrectly tagged US Government wallet dumping a large position in a huge sell order on Wednesday,» Parth Chaturvedi, Investments Lead at CoinSwitch Ventures, said. Cardano, Solana, and Polkadot were trading with gains, while Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Polygon were trading with cuts. Bitcoin (BTC) declined 0.37% to $27,537, whereas Ethereum (ETH) was below the $1,850 level. Meanwhile, BTC volume stood at approximately $20.82 billion, rising 53.29% in the last 24 hours. «The crypto market remained almost flat as encouraging CPI data showed that inflation is cooling down and we can expect relaxation of monetary policies in the future,» Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin, said. “Historically, BTC volatility increases around the inflation data release and we can see some fluctuations later today or during the week,” Thakral added.

Bitcoin (BTC) extended its decline on May 12 but analyst Philip Swift, co-founder of trading suite DecenTrader and creator of data resource LookIntoBitcoin, does not expect a deep correction. He said it was “interesting to note that the long/short ratio has been climbing as price has trended down.”

The XRP price has dropped by 0.5% in the past 24 hours, dipping to $0.425301 amid a similar fall for the cryptocurrency market as a whole.

Polygon declined by over 4%. Litecoin, Dogecoin and XRP were also trading with cuts. The global cryptocurrency market cap was trading lower around $1.14 trillion, falling 1.73% in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, BTC volume in the last 24 hours stood at approximately $13.72 billion, falling 22.75% in the last 24 hours. «Bitcoin traded sideways in the past 24 hours. BTC's price started to recover as the blockchain congestion eases. On the other hand, investors are awaiting the CPI inflation, which is set to be released today,» Edul Patel, CEO and Co-Founder of Mudrex, said. BTC is currently trading at the $27,600 level and facing resistance near the US$28,000 zone, Edul said.

The United States consumer price index rose 4.9% annually, which was slightly less than estimates of a 5% increase. The CPI’s monthly rise of 0.4% in April was in line with expectations.
