Ripple’s [XRP] performance has been subdued since the U.S. Securities and Commission [SEC] lawsuit in 2020. In fact, since the case, Bitcoin’s [BTC] subsequent price rallies haven’t pumped XRP like other altcoins. 

Ripple (XRP) is a cryptocurrency that powers real-time gross settlements on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) blockchain. Developed by David Schwartz, Arthur Britto and Mt. Gox founder Jed McCaleb in 2011, the XRPL was created to improve cross-border payments. The blockchain launched in June 2012 and the same year, financial technology firm Ripple Labs was founded by veteran Silicon Valley entrepreneur Chris Larsen and three developers.

For over two years, Ripple [XRP] has been locked in a lawsuit with the SEC, led by Gary Gensler. At several points within this period, rumors have flown around that a judgment was near. Unfortunately, none of these reports eventually passed as reality.

If the Fed decides to hike the interest rate, there may not be a knee-jerk reaction from the markets, as investors are anticipating a rate hike of 25 basis points. In case of no rate hike by the Fed, we can expect the upward trend to continue in the coming weeks,» Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin, said. Other top crypto tokens were also trading higher. XRP zoomed over 20%. Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, Cardano and BNB were also trading with gains. The global cryptocurrency market cap was trading higher around $1.18 trillion, rising 2.43% in the last 24 hours. The total volume in DeFi is currently 5.18 billion, 7.83% of the total crypto market 24-hour volume. The volume of all stablecoins is now $60.33 billion, which is 91.16% of the total crypto market 24-hour volume.

Ripple (XRP) has been the subject of litigation for years, and only recently has it looked like an end might be in sight. Despite the ongoing legal battle, activities on the Ripple XRPL have not stopped. Various features are also being developed to give XRP more utility.

Bitcoin (BTC) has been sustaining above the $25,000 level for the past few days, increasing the likelihood that the bear market may have ended. Generally, in the initial stages of a new bull phase, several analysts remain in a state of disbelief and expect the resumption of the downtrend.

Today, the US Supreme Court is set to hear arguments in Coinbase's efforts to push two class-action lawsuits against it into arbitration. This is a historic event too, as it will be the first time the nine Justices of this court will face a crypto-related case.

Edul Patel, Co-founder and CEO at Mudrex, said, «With instability in the banking sector, inflation data that exceeded expectations, and renewed optimism about a dovish Federal Reserve, Bitcoin has reached levels unseen in approximately nine months.» Bitcoin (BTC) rose 1.10% to $27,519, while Ethereum (ETH) was above the $1,750 level. The global cryptocurrency market cap was trading around $1.16 trillion, rising 0.13% in the last 24 hours.

The takeover of the ailing Credit Suisse bank by UBS boosted European equity markets on March 20 but not everyone is happy with the deal. According to Swiss regulator FINMA, the value of additional tier one (AT1) bonds will be written to zero. This move will wipe out $17 billion worth of investments for AT1 bond investors.
